Hi All! this is a suggestion that has been in my mind for QUITE a while now, the Class 91 for the ECML (PETERBOROUGH - DONCASTER) for Train Sim World 5! Thought i'd just throw it out there, these locos are absolutely WONDERFUL aswell as their amazing horn. as chatgpt as this sounds promise me its not! As JustTrains have produced the Class 87,and now the Class 86, i think its time we give the DVT's their time to shine. this pack would be an addition to the ECML and hopefully (maybe) could come with a York expansion??? Obviously this would be the LNER class 91 and not the Virgin one as of licensing issues. We could also get (as shown above) a heritage Inter-City livery for this or even the Flying Scotsman livery! On the topic of liveries, like the class 37 we could get a EuroPhoenix livery for this quite frankly amazing loco. ---------------SCENARIOS--------------- i know we are not too fond on ChatGPT but this is one instance where i have asked it to create some scenarios for this. Scenario 1: “Northbound Express” Setting: Summer 2018, LNER era Train: Class 91 + Mk4 set (with DVT at rear) Overview: Drive a northbound LNER express from Peterborough to Doncaster, stopping only at Newark Northgate. You’ll have to contend with yellow signals, slower freight ahead, and a tight timetable due to engineering overruns earlier in the day. Challenges: Signal delays, quick acceleration to line speed (125 mph), managing braking for short platforms. Goal: Arrive at Doncaster within 2 minutes of the timetable. ---------------------SCENARIO 2------------------------------- ️ Scenario 2: “Winter Drag” Setting: Winter 2010, heavy snow, InterCity Swallow livery Train: Class 91 + Mk4 + DVT (drag mode — DVT power fault, 91 leads both directions) Overview: A fault with the DVT means the Class 91 is dragging the whole train southbound, operating in an unusual formation. You’re running from Doncaster to Peterborough, with snow and low adhesion making braking distances longer. Challenges: Longer braking, signal caution, keeping to schedule with adverse weather. Goal: Deliver a safe, smooth journey and prevent wheel slip/spin. ----------------------------SCENARIO 3---------------------------------- Scenario 3: “The 91 Revival” (York–Doncaster Railtour) Setting: Summer 2023 Livery: InterCity Swallow (preserved Class 91 + Mk4s with DVT) Route: York to Doncaster Overview: Drive the final leg of a railtour celebrating 40 years of the InterCity 225. The special charter runs from York to Doncaster, where fans are waiting for a photo session with the iconic loco. Navigate through evening traffic with tight schedules, keeping an eye out for signal changes and excited spotters along the route. Goal: Deliver a smooth, on-time arrival at Doncaster for a successful railtour.
Along with that other amazing ECML workhorse, the Deltic, the Class 91 should be topping the lists for UK locos.
A no brainer really. And would go especially well with a route extension to Leeds/York/Selby. Day 1 purchase for a lot of people I’m sure. DTG TAKE NOTES!!
You won't see a 225 set as a standalone DLC, that would involve creating the Class 91, the multiple different types of carriages and the DVT. Far too expensive to develop as a standalone train pack DLC that also has only one, rather short stretch of the ECML to operate on.
It would likely only be a loco DLC in the same way the 390 was a loco DLC as the extra in the Deluxe Edition of a new game iteration. An ‘extra’ that is fundamental to the route and an incentive to buy the Deluxe Edition. Would DTG make another section of ECML as the core bundle route so soon after they did one? Or would they instead make an ECML route DLC mid-term that included the Class 91 as the main new train? Those are the two most likely ways the 91 would be made for TSW by DTG. The other way is if Just Trains (or someone else) made it for a route DLC. I have no idea how likely any of these options are or if any of them do happen, how soon it would be. It seems to be the most requested UK train so there’s a definite incentive for someone to do it at some point if they can get the required reference for it.
Any additional work required would surely be reflected in the chosen sale price of such a pack. Therefore it is possible. The same work had to be done for the HST on GWEs release.
I mean… The original db br 182 dlc was a new loco, new coaches (at the time) and a new cab car so it’s not unheard of for a full new trainset to be included in a dlc.
If this beautiful locomotive is not added to TSW6, then I don't know... It's just criminal to miss such an opportunity)
