Anyone else think the noise of the motors in the Class 91 cab is excessive? You can hardly hear the horn, or the alert warnings. I have the AP pack, and I never even tried the 91 without it... I bought both, and installed both. Is it just mine for some weird reason? It's actually fatiguing to drive because of the racket it makes. The AP video doesn't seem as loud. I've added a video of mine. Obviously, it depends how loud you play it, but listen to the other sounds, like the horn etc. You can hardly hear it over the motor noise. If you also have the AP 91 pack.. is yours any different? If it's how it's meant to be, then fine... I'll just drive the DVT end
Cheers.. would be helpful. I can only imagine it's how it is.. I mean.. a sound file is a sound file, but it would be nice to confirm. It may well be my game settings... although everything else sounds right to me.
There was a mod for the Class 91 on UKTS File ID 35230 which modified the sounds From the blurb: Sound changes: Use of the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 90 sound pack for motor, bogie & run sounds meaning the train will sound a lot more dynamic at high speeds The fans (Class 91) and air con (DVT) are a bit quieter The air con turns off when ETS is off (or VCB open or pantograph down) Replacement DSD alarm from Class 90 sound pack, sounds more like the real thing Might be worth a look. pH
Ok. Just in case anyone else has the same problem and searches for it, here's an update. Turn on "EFX" in the main game settings menu. Sorted
It's the only time I've noticed it make such a difference. Normally it just adds reverb to tunnel sounds, and passing trains etc.. and usually sounds a bit rubbish, which is why I turned it off, but for some reason, with the Armstrong Powerhouse 91, it absolutely needs to be on. Without it the traction motor noise is unbearable as my video shows. EFX off EFX On You'd never image turning off EFX would do this, would you? No mention of it in the AP manual either.
Yeah... the real sound is nowhere near as loud. Listen to how loud the AWS pings are compared to the motor noise, then compare it to my first video. Again with the horn; On my fist video, you can barely even hear the horn over the motor racket! AP really need a note in the manual saying that EFX needs to be on.
PH From some of the manuals for the AP Sound packs Pro: Please note that for the best audio experience using this pack, make sure that you have EFX enabled by clicking ‘Settings’ and ‘Audio’ in the simulation.
PH It doesn't!! But if you know AP products - there have been various recommended settings over the years so my settings in TS20XX reflect Richard's previous recommendations as the "default". The EFX recommendation is included in some AP EP's too - so I always tick it. I think that EFX was introduced around TS2013/14 or earlier and I seem to recall that it used to be recommended to turn EFX on. But then I could be wrong!!!!!
There's no mention of it the 91 pack.. or the 37 pack... or the 43 Valenta pack, or the 142 pack, or the 90/Mk3DVT pack or any pack I own. It definitely needs to be in every manual where it is a requirement. I didn't even realised it was switched off until I tried to rectify the issue with the 91 cab noise. Every other pack was fine with it off.
