Front external cameras show the rear of the train, whilst conversely, rear external cameras show the front of the train... This doesn't always seem to be the case, so maybe the game is getting confused somewhere?
It depends where the game thinks the front of the train is - the front of hte train is not always where the lead loco is, particularly if the train has change drections (in that case the front remains at the same end it was previously). Think about it more as "camera 1" and "camera 2" - you can move them around and put them where you want and it keeps them there when you return too so you can swap them
This just reminds me of Wayne's World! Thing is, I've had it happen on the San Francisco - San Jose tutorials, when the train hasn't changed directions. I wish there was an easy way to reset the cameras once you've moved them, but it is a small price to pay.
