Hello anyone, I have another suggestion, this one about no less than two types of Emu's wich seemed important for the British railway network, the class 455/8 and the class 421 How cool would it be if we could experience one of the busiest commuter lines in a completely different time. The class 421 or slamdoor units This one was in service between 1964 - 2005 on all major lines including this one some operators British Rail Southern Network SouthEast And other operators in between. Southern was of course one of the last liveries where this train was in service Max speed 90 mph or 145 km/h consists of 4 parts drive's on 3rd-rail electrification Built by Britisch Rail (BR) at York Works Wikipedia The standard units contained only passenger accommodation, and formed the bulk of the fleet. They were unusual in that all four traction motors were mounted on one non-driving motor coach. Units consisted of two driving trailers, sandwiching the non-driving motor coach and an intermediate trailer. The train looks exactly like MK1 coaches but is still a motorized train set. Something I personally always found cool about this train set. Offers new opportunities for conductor mode in a totally different way, a classic whistle would be cool too The class 455/7 Also active on the Brighton main line In service 1982 - 2022 Southern Network SouthEast Connex South Central Built by Britisch Rail (BR) at York Works Built by Holgate Road carriage works York third rail max speed 75 mph (121 km/h) Fits into the current state of how the route came out 2021 Link YouTube YouTube Class 421 Class 455
I like the idea of older EMUs for this route. However the 455/7 is more in line with the current timetable as I believe that they were still used in the period it was set. Also, it would be nice to see the older types used on Gatwick Express services such as 4VEG, 73/488/489, 442 and 460. Lastly we should really consider the Class 403 5BEL Brighton Belle Pullman sets. Unique with lashings of luxury. I agree with any suggestion that expands the limited rolling stock catalogue especially older and/or rarer types.
If not already mentioned, the 4 VEP (Class 423 IIRC) was also the mainstay of the stopping services along with EPB’s on the inner services. And to go with the 4 CIG you would need the 4 BIG buffet car variant.
