We've been getting a lot of modern (or more modern) routes for TSW lately. However, we only have a couple of classic routes (and they're steam-era British routes) and one classic US loco: the F7 in both ATSF and Clinchfield liveries. Hopefully, that will change. I'm suggesting some interesting classic (1950s-70s) routes with some cool, never-before-seen locomotives that I really want. #1: Western Pacific Feather River Canyon: Oroville-Portola, CA; a northern California route set in the 1960s with lots of bridges and tunnels, 1% grades, and one of the most famous landmarks in US railroading history: the Keddie Wye. Locos I would include for this route would be a WP U30B and GP20, GP35, or GP40/GP40-2 with a selection of WP freight cars and cabooses and a WP F7A or FP7A and F7B (WP used A-B-B lashups) with a California Zephyr passenger consist. We could also see some Great Northern diesels running on GN's line up to the Pacific Northwest (Gateway Sub). The Quincy RR runs lumber operations and interchange with the WP at Quincy Junction, so that could be cool to see in game, too. #2: SP Peninsula Corridor: The SP version of the modern Peninsula Corridor we have in game. Perhaps we could get the extended version from San Francisco to Gilroy, CA. This version would be set in the 1960s-70s. Locos I want to see on this route would include an SP FM H-24-66 Trainmaster, a GP9, and an SD9. An SP SDP45 and GP40P-2 would be cool to see, as well as a GS-Class 4-8-4 or 4-8-2 Mountain. #3: PRR Horseshoe Curve: The classic, 1950s version of TSW3's world-famous PRR Horseshoe Curve route. This route could be cool with steam power, but I'd love to see some interesting PRR diesels, too. Locos I would want to see would be PRR Baldwin RF-16 Sharks (A and B units) and Centipedes, Alco FA2/FB2s and RS3s, EMD GP9s, SD9s, and F7A/Bs, and FM H-24-66 Trainmasters. #4: ATSF Seligman Subdivision: I couldn't do a classic US diesel route idea post without including a route from one of my all-time favorite railroads: the Santa Fe. The ATSF ran freight and passenger trains across the Arizona desert between Winslow and Kingman. Then the railroad crossed the Colorado River and entered California and the town of Needles. This route would probably not be the full 300 mile Winslow-Needles Seligman Sub, but we could see a 100 mile section (and maybe future extensions). Locos I would want to see are FT, F3, or F7 A/B units in both ATSF freight and passenger (Warbonnet) liveries, a GP7, GP9s, or GP20, an SD24, an FM H-12-44 or H-16-44, an NW2, and/or an Alco RSD-15 "Alligator." Of course, we need an ATSF Super Chief or El Capitan passenger consist and some ATSF freight cars and cabooses. Best of all, this route has higher speeds than other routes (up to 70mph for freight).
