Happy Tuesday! Clinchfield is coming! Being the first USA based freight route since the first route DTG made, Sandpatch. We have had a freight route based in Canada but it feels great to be headed back to the good old USA. This route is set in the late 70s early 80s which was before Clinchfield was owned and ran by CSX and instead was a time where it was ran by an independent company. From the previews we have been shown the locomotives, the pioneer of diesel on American railroads the F7, the reliable SD40. We also can’t forget making an appearance for the first time we will have a beautiful caboose! DTG went the extra mile and created the new locomotives and the new rolling stock to accompany this route. The scenery looks outstanding, the surrounding forest as you drive mixed with the distant mountain scenery, is amazing. It looks like they finally figured out how to make trees and mountains look full and not be effected by the distance of loading of assets and it looks to be the best we have had in TSW2. This route features a 36 mile mainline but also features the same mileage of track for 4 branch lines. The layout for this route gives it the opportunity to be the closest in TSW2 to having a whole, complete and living railroad. It also opens up many opportunities to have varied, unique services and timetable. I took this route map and added numbers to each end of the main line and each of the branch lines, if we do the math we end up with 120 different route combinations that could be used in service mode. Clinchfield feels like the culmination of all of the experience DTG has learned and the feedback from the community since 2016 when Sandpatch was released. Please feel free to share anything about this route that your excited for, and the types of services your most looking forward to while we wait for a release date from DTG! “Link to what is likely to be the most current Clinchfield article.” https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-sim-world-2-turns-shifters-and-manifests.38072/ “Thank you to the forum user “Yerolo” for creating and posting the route map on another thread for the community!”
Truly is going to be an awesome experience for anyone who is a fan of freight! I feel like DTG has done America right by this route. Very impressed!
Struggling to use maths to get to 120 route combinations from the map to be honest, with or without the numbers added, but the latest article puts the service count at around 50 but they are mainly groups of follow-on services rather than 50 completely different services that we might traditionally get. We saw that in the preview stream. One group has 12 parts which count as 12 of those 50 or so services. There will be plenty to do, that’s for sure.
I honestly used google for the math so it could be wrong! I like how they seem to be splitting a 12 hour day on the railroad into multiple steps and it really seems like they put thought and time into each service instead of being copy and paste!
