I know, I know. there is an AT&SF SD45-2. I have a much more comprehensive general suggestion I will be posting later after I get my initial drive video on my Youtube channel, and will be making some of the comments from that post in that video to elaborate on them. But for now, this idea needed to be put out there as a loco suggestion as the model mentioned is under BNSF ownership...and we all know what's wrong with that. This is, I feel, a lost opportunity for DTG. On the RWA Web site, there are many reskins of the SD45-2 that, naturally, require the only SD45-2 that exists. That would be the AT&SF SD45-2, which cannot be acquired internationally. My research shows that the Clinchfield Railroad bought 18 of this train. Knowing how reskins work, all DTG has to do is use the same GeoPcDx files from the AT&SF SD45-2, apply the Clinchfield skin to the model, and sell it as a new DLC that IS available internationally. Maybe update the scripting as well. This seems like an extremely easy thing for DTG to do. It would then get those GeoPcDx files into international hands legally and allow those users to also use other skins, such as the Norfolk Southern SD45-2, or the Montana Rail Link SD45-2. Yes, there is a Union Pacific SD45 out there on Steam, but this is a different model. The upgraded version is not available internationally. With Clinchfield Railroad in TS2021's collection of routes, this is an opportunity to brand and release additional DLC, and using the skins from the Santa Fe model would solve one of the international buyer problems caused by a company that is restricting use of their logo on this game but not on others. I think it's an opportunity that needs to be taken. Here are trains 3611 and 3610 to back this idea:
Probably won't happen, the original SD45-2 was made by DTM, NOT Dovetail, I did ask if they were interested in doing an SD45-2 for the Clinchfield route, however they lost their project files in a hardware crash a few years ago. So unless someone builds one from scratch, it isn't gonna happen.
Oh, that is extremely unfortunate. This has several alternate skins and it makes me sad to think that many will never get to experience those.
No, they were traded to the SCL railroad for standard SD45s. The SD45-2 came new to the railroad in the early to mid 70s CRR SD45 with partial SCL paint. CRR SD45-2
