As the title suggests, I would like for collectibles to be collectible through the freecam. As it is right now, you have to walk up to them, which is not an issue on routes like Bakerloo Line, where all the collectibles are dotted at the stations themselfs. You spawn at a station, go on the hunt, find it, repeat. It was fairly fun to do that, even without a guide or any other list or video that shows where the collectibles are. Then I did Cajon Pass. And I don't know what was the grand idea behind it, but especially the collectibles on the (not even used!) third track up the mountain, which made me walk up the path, and then the down the track for about 15 minutes, just to find the two tiny signs ... I am one of those that like to really get all out of the game or DLC they purchased, and having all the collectibles done is part of that. When they are close to spawn points it's not an issue, but running down the tracks on Cajon Pass with a guide, for about 2 hours, to collect everything, is a bit much. Making it able to collect them through freecam would allow it to be at least somewhat quicker.
Did you know that Ctrl-0 teleports you back to the locomotive? Saves you half the walking. Also, the freecam has a relatively limited range, so it wouldn't save a whole lot of walking on CJP. It would help on several routes where the collection requires stopping your train and jumping out to fix the fence, or chop the wood, or bag the coal, or what have you... I just completed all route tasks on Clinchfield, and it was just as bad as CJP. You have to drive a train along the mainline, and then you still have all the branches.
I didn't know that, that is useful, thank you very much ! I wish I'd knew that before I was running back to my loco on CJP, every time I placed a sign ... By freecam, I mean the camera on 8, the one that allowes you to fly the entire route, no matter where your loco is. Not cam 3, which is limited to either end of your train. It would save so much time, and annoyance. It's not like I am trying to cheat myself out of playing the game, because, when I play the game correctly, I never have the chance to collect them. Or when was the last time you saw a train doing an emergancy brake on the mainline so the driver can fix a fence ?
I usually create a custom scenario and drive a single locomotive, which I can stop/start whenever I want. I prefer one of the German DB BR 185 locomotives, as they have great acceleration and top speed, so you can run a route pretty quick.
I did the exact same thing, but with the BR 101 instead. I'm not saying they need to remove or reduce the collectibles. (Tho, personally, 50 would be still enough, right .. ?) I'd just want there to be an alternative to walking up to them, while still having to find them and approaching them.
