Intro After the announcement of the new Thomas addon I feel the need to mention this in the suggestions, although it has been mentioned before I want to give my full opinion on why this should happen to stop people becoming angered when a ridiculous priced and overall something no one wanted or even asked for gets released. Community choice? Community choice involves the community more in the making of a roadmap, I am very aware that the making of a route has to be very quiet to the public before its release due to certainty however there could be something as simple as a questionnaire or even a poll asking the community what they want and what wouldn't be a good idea to release. How does this work? There are multiple methods of how this could work I'm going to suggest 2 if I have neglected any other methods please mention them bellow. One thing that can be agreed on is that something has to be done so that the community have more say over what is being produced as after all it is our money that is funding the game. Method 1 pre roadmap A pre roadmap section could be added to the fourums where dovetail give brief ideas of what they are planning to produce over the next 6 months *later down the tracks* section in the actual roamap. This will allow the community to not only vote if they like the idea and if it should ne released but also give their opinions e.g., if a route should be longer than the planned end point, this will give the devs to make the changes well before its 'official announcement' on the roadmap stream ensuring it is approved by the community. Option 2 forced community route Dovetail have to produce a route chosen from the suggestions thread at least every 3 months, subject to licencing, this makes it more fair in terms of the community getting what they want rather than cash grabs that are becoming increasingly more common My preference My preference is option 1 as it is more engaging and no one feels forced into anything. THERE IS NO EXCUSE This is the 5th instalment of tsw therefore there should be no excuse on providing routes the community want or even the relevant fixes rather than a we are not sure or a we will check on that response in a roadmap. Your opinions are welcomed below and posible other options however please keep it polite! Thank you for reading
Absolutely good idea we pay there wages so only right we should have more of a say needless to say were it not for us loyal customers they’d all be out of a job
And how do you define “the community” ? The members of this forum ? All the persons who bought a certain number of DLC ? If I bought twice as many DLC as my neighbour, will I get more votes ? Can I vote for German DLC, or only the UK ones ? I am a Belgian, perhaps I cannot vote because there are no Belgian DLC. Are consoles players allowed to vote ? Perhaps only half a vote since we are getting only the half of a DLC ? I have an idea. Why not let DTG select the DLC ? It might be that they know best which DLC will sell best. After all, they want to make money, so it is in their interest to make those DLC that their costumers want.
The community would be everyone who plays tsw regardless of how many addons they have everyone gets 1 vote as is usual in a poll and it doesent really matter where your from as mentioned in one of the options above (method 1) dovetail still choose but get feedback from the community early on so they can change based on what the community think or completely remove an idea if people beleive the time is better spent elsewhere. And your argument about dtg chosing is very valid but it could also be argued that to save costs and make money they do rush some routes and also bring out completely random addons like the recent Thomas gameplay pack (quantity rather than quality) to make the money, the community choice will act almost as a form of quality control.
For this to actually make sense, you would need to make sure that the majority of the community participates. Which means that it would need to a be a poll that is visible to a player that has zero connection to the DTG forums. The reason why is that there are a large number of players who aren't on this forum, who would be unaware if it was just sent by email or on here. Something that would be a visible notification upon starting up TSW.
Wasn’t something along these lines already discussed/suggested in the main forum? And I believe the EP pretty much ruled the idea out.
Can go both ways, if you make a poll with few routes, and you voted for route A, but route B was choosen, people will deff get upset about that..
