    Hello everyone,

Today I have a new question for our community to discuss, regarding what community modded content you use frequently, and to generally help us understand what mods are most popular.
This would only be regarding PC players, as modding isn't possible/accessible for console platforms.

We have an understanding of some commonly discussed mods (God mode, improved cabviews, signal visuals, rain improvements, route enhancement packs etc) but it would be useful to ask you all and make sure we don't miss any frequently used ones.

The way we'll use this information is for our developer teams to understand and test our builds that would affect modded content against popular mods before we set them live. That way we can aim to avoid having to revert certain patches that may affect modded files.
*cough* This post most certainly has nothing to do with the patch we put out yesterday.

Please let us know your thoughts, it would be helpful if you are commenting for multiple mods, to order them in the frequency of use, and for other users to upvote similar comments. Thank you :)

For me God Mode is essential.

    I also use in TSW4:

    Signal Enhancements
    Foliage Enhancements
    Ini file updates.

What I’m missing from TSW3 are the route mods. Particularly the MML one which totally transforms the route.

The absolute must haves for me are:
God Mode (to apply dynamic.ini changes), Signal Visuals and Rain Improvements. Which you mentioned. Without these I'm just not playing the game, they create the baseline acceptable experience for me.

Beyond that it's mostly Route enhancement Packs, Loco Enhancement Packs, and occasionally Loco Audio Enhancement packs. But I will play with out these if they get broken from time to time.

I also routinely use the PIS colour mods in order to make them accurate: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...-rolling-stock-orange-pis-fix-tsw4-compatible

This and the other PIS mods should really be made baseline in the sim. There is no reason to have incorrect PIS colour.

What I personally use? Well, besides already mentioned godmode and cabview improvements...

KWG ICE 3 Enhancement Pack (rather small EP with only texture changes, also brings back full red stripe, and ALSO fixes the DB font for Bordrestaurant)
KWG ICE 1 Enhancement Pack (currently not available for TSW4 due to cough cough editor can't cook cough)
hopefully upcoming ICE 3 Soundmod which has already been kinda announced by the modder
a mod that changes weather sounds such as wind and rain
used to use DB class 187 soundmod but can't now due to TSW4
few other small things idk right now

  5. Not sure if Reshade counts as a mod, but possibly worth adding that too if so. I use it on TSW3 and its a great visual enhancement tool, so might be worth adding it to the TSW4 (and beyond) list..

    God Mode.
    Signal Enhancements.
    Foliage Enhancements.
    .ini Tweaks.
Route DLC mods. If devs have no plans to finish what they started, at least let someone else have a go. (E.g. MML)

Every enhancement that works is a welcomed one.

From more accurate liveries, to more or better foliage, better textures on the buildings and more

But the absolute essential ones for me are:

    -Godmode
    -Updated rain
-Signal visability improvements / Signal flare removal

At some point DTG might consider putting these into the game by default, and while I understand that Godmode would be probably not in the game makers favor, the rain and signal improvements probably would be.

I think the most important to me is the rain sound mod as I find the rain too loud in the cab. Then it's the signal mod by lm since I don't like the default cab flair. Some sound mods I find really necessary is the 187 and us freight sound mods. Of course I'll have the other sound mods too but it's not like i need them. Same with enhancement packs. Nice to have to but not really required for me to enjoy tsw

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. PROPER HORNS FOR RIGHT LOCOMOTIVES. I was told it takes 200 hours for you guys to mix the audios for each locomotive. But why can a modder simply do it themselves and sounds a million times better. Like seriously CSX and Cane Creek having same horn? In every locomotive? It blows my mind for this being a Simulator you guys keep letting small stuff like that get by.

    FWIW my must haves are;

    GodMode

TSW: God Mode - Alpha 0.3.3 - Train Sim Community

Lighting & Graphic Enhancement (which requires GM)

    TSW4 - Lighting & Graphic Enhancement Version 3.2 - Train Sim Community

    Route Vegetation EP

Route Vegetation & Grass EP TSW4 - Train Sim Community

    Signal Visuals

Train Sim World 4 - Improved signal visuals - Train Sim Community

    Better Rain

Better Rain V2 - Train Sim Community

Various Sound Mods (too numerous to mention all but including)

Class 385 Sound Mod - Train Sim Community

New Wind, Rain & Thunder Sounds (In-Cab) | TSW4 Compatible - Train Sim Community

...and the various route EPs of this type

Birmingham Cross City - Scenery Update (Foliage, Lighting, Fencing & Clutter) - Train Sim Community

Peak Forest Enhancement / Colour Correction Pack - Train Sim Community

Finally, anything that fixes things that shouldn't be broken in the first place. Fixes to lighting curves, PIS colouring, Diesel exhaust changes etc

For me Foliage Enhancement / Replacement mods are the best.

There is still too much releasing of routes with poor foliage, lineside clutter and detail.

I understand why in some cases (ECML for instance) it is done, to mitigate stutters on fast routes where assets ae being called for in quick succession, but then when you drive the route on a freight service at a much lower speed you can see how bland and baron the scenery can be.

Well first they need proper horn sound recordings or find someone who has a horn collection which they had since Sherman Hill i think. They didn't have that person before that. It's hard or even impossible to get permission from the toc to be able to record sounds.

This has nothing to do with the editor not cooking, but everything with Addon-Manager not understanding these kinds of mods.

This goes back to the original question of this thread: In general additive pak reskins/loco enhancement packs. To be more technical a custom plugin with child blueprints (mostly RVVs & RVAs, but with the editor also RVMs) referenced in custom RVDs. This can range from something as simple as a repaint that's separately available in the menu, to adding completely new features to a train, like my GSM-R in the ICE 1 EHP.

Any mods that improve a route's station directory. Some routes annoyingly do not have off-world destinations set up correctly so to have mods that fix this are very welcome.

Also any mods that improve a train's PIS display are very important to me. The state of certain PISs on trains are appalling and some mods are able to fix this unrealistic issues.

In summary, pretty much the same as JetWash with various other little fixes.

The train sim community website can be sorted by most downloaded:
    https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...tches?compatibility=tsw4&sort=most-downloaded
And this is where I find most of my mods.

But to highlight what matters the most to me:

    God mode
    Signal Visuals
    CabCam improvements
    Core freight sounds
Certain loco specific improvements when they exist such as with the 612

Generally a selection of each "type" of mod (core tweaks like godmode, sounds, landscapes, and loco tweaks)should help to cover a good selection of mods.

Some mods that I used that are obscure but kinda nessecary for me were:

    - 110 removal from dostos services
    - 422 VRR livery
    - Railpool 185 on all german routes
    - LFR IR and sbb coaches with destination improvements
    - Destination extensions for various routes or loco's

Oh yeah I love that one! you just reminded me, I have to check if I got that one installed

edit: oh right that one made the timetable vanish and the route empty, dropping me into the bottomless void

The ditchlights (or auxiliary lights since non-US people love calling them that) are incorrectly placed for an ex-SP AC4400 as seen in the second pic. The first pic is accurate to how they should look. The bottom picture would be more representative of a UP or CNW ordered Dash 9-44CW. Depends on how much people care about prototypes and correct, accurate representation of US stuff.

This thread is really making me see how important mods are to improve the base game. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing for DTG or not.

Paint scheme is more accurate, the original Ac44 had lazy paint bleed on the exhaust, and markings carried over from the CSX AC44 which arnt used on UPs AC44.

    EDIT: Here's the full changelog.
    Screenshot_20231102_080100_Chrome.jpg

    And the 1.6 changes.

UP does have AC44s with the lower ditchlights and number boards, but SHG did a lazy job in implementing them.
    aaaDSC_0063 UP 6643 31oct2019 copy.jpg 40520017983_5eb8a85e23_b.jpg

Incorrect run number series (Covers all AC44s, not just the early orders)
    Incorrect Side sill striping
Incorrect designation on the cab (Carried over from the CSX AC44)

SOUND MODS - I can't stress this enough, but lately most runs in TSW3 and 4 were on routes with rolling stock that I had modded sounds for. Proper sounds truly make a difference in the overall experience. Huge thanks to Bescot and ItsYa165 for their British sound mods.

    I'll keep it simple.

The game must allow replacing any data file by a mod - this works for every other game, e.g. ETS2 or TSC. This worked up to TSW3, and should still be working in future releases.

No matter if I replace a RVV, material, texture or core blueprint.

I'm still not sure what the purpose of an AddonManager would be on PC which isn't limited as consoles are. I only see that the Addons/Plugins (DLC) are not listed in the Engine.ini anymore (only core stuff) - that's probably why TSW4 takes so long to boot, scanning each DLC on startup now.

So for me, the most vital mods are God Mode, then my own CabViews, Bloom fixes (.umap PostProcessVolume - Bloom reset from 2.36 to 1 for old routes like ECW, TOR, BKL, HSC, GWE, PIC), Sound mods (HSC ES44), Signal Improvements.

Here is my list of subscribed mods from the TSC:
As can see there is a theme with Enhancement packs, sound mods, scenary mods, rain, lighting and graphics mods, camera mods ect (most of which now no longer work in TSW4.

Route Vegetation & Grass EP TSW4

    TSW3 Rain Update
