Ahh, Two liveries in one DLC, Conrail and Norfolk Southern (Ex-Conrail) Dash 8-40CW for Train Simulator Classic. It was manufactured by General Electric (GE) in 1989 and Conrail started rolling these units in between 1993 and 1994. Some of the features that I know that they had Integrated Function Displays (IFC), Cab Signaling System that looks liked former PRR Position Light Signals, had 4000 horsepower, can go 70 MPH and was painted in blue livery. The year that Conrail was filed for bankruptcy was way back in 1972 (I don’t remember the whole history about Conrail). Anyways back to the DLC, Conrail bought 236 units and were numbered between 6050-6285 and Norfolk Southern bought 154 units and were numbered between 8314-8467. The Conrail, Ex-Conrail and Norfolk Southern Dash 8-40CW had really hauled very heavy freight trains until their retirement in 2020. Like I said, this Dash 8-40CW DLC should have both Conrail and NS liveries for Train Simulator Classic, and make sure it has Cab Signals inside and ATC and ACSES safety systems. Just like they did with the CSX SD80MAC DLC. Here are some Dash 8 photos with both Conrail and NS liveries.
No, Conrail was split between NS and CSX. Also they still exist as a paper railroad as the CSAO, and still hold the rights to the logo and branding of Conrail as stated here: https://conrail.com/terms-of-use/ That was done thru the NS license, as Norfolk Southern I assumed did the deal on their end, so its the only exception to the Conrail rule. But the 2 other DLC's with Conrail locos (The NS C39-8 and the CSX SD45-2) they were unbranded.
Then I guess they should do Norfolk Southern Dash 8-40CW instead. Conrail has a trademark like N&W, Right?
Almost. Split into three - besides NS and CSX, there were some sections identified which could not be assigned to either side without compromising the other. Thus a third entity, Conrail Shared Assets was formed, or retained. While most of us know about the NS Conrail heritage unit, there are recently more: not just a CSX loco, but also a Metro-North P32. So I think, just like with BNSF, the matter is either regions, profit sharing, or some lack of love between DTG and C(SA(O)). Brr, 100 characters file name rule, brr grr hrr drr! The most trivial option is to offer the models and then offer 3rd party repaints for it - which may exist. Downside being: workshop.
There are far more good quality repaints including some really excellent weathered available on sites other than "workshop" and the majority are free. The weathering of locos is something the repainters do that the developers rarely do and in the case of Conrail weathering is an absolute necessary requirement.
I meant the Steam workshop. Otherwise, you just said what I said. Is there some developer calling itself workshop? Like this from yesterday... Steve's comment.
