A thought popped into my head - how much have I actually contributed to the forums compared to others. I've been here since 2018 (4 years), have 1079 messages (while I'm writing this, so make it 1080) and 1265 positive ratings. Since we can't see how many downvotes we got before the system was removed, I don't know how much people hated me. But to answer my original question, I came up with an equation. The equation is: (post count x positive ratings) years on server This gives me a score of 341550 points. That's pretty meaningless at the moment, so let's try some other members. WonkySausages, the greatest named user on the site, has 41 messages, 60 positive ratings and has also been here for four years. This gives him 615 points. That means he's got 555 times less points than me, but I'm willing to double his points because of his name. ARuscoe, who is the server's top user, has been here since 2018 as well, has posted 5583 messages and received 5185 positive ratings. This gives him an enormous 7,236,963.75. That makes me look like a newbie. Protagonist has been here since last year, and has posted 1039 messages, which is about the same as me, but has received an amazing 6865 likes. This gives him a very commendable 3,566,367.5 - around half of ARuscoe. But Sam doesn't compare to Natalie, who scores 4,806,717.5. I am sure the next stream will be very fun! Elepedus, an admin who seems to never post but always be watching, scores 0.16(r). Matt, who also started in 2016, gets a significantly higher 679073.5. His post count is slightly lower than mine at 791 but his score his saved by getting 5151 likes, most of which I presume are from when he gives (much appreciated) insights into DTG and TSW.
Probably better to average the number of likes vs the number of posts made. This would better highlight the quality of posts. For example, if someone has only posted 10 posts, but got 1,000 likes they’re averaging 100 likes per post. Where as if someone has posted 1,000 posts and only got 100 likes, they’re only averaging 10 likes per post.

1.42 - I'm a fraction too argumentative to make the top 20! Shame we no longer have the downvotes - would add to the stats interest!
I thought about that but my thoughts said that people who have been on the forums a very long time but post less frequently than newer users who are frequent would be kept equal when the newer user has (arguably) made a greater contribution to the forums. I reckon my score would be at 15 if we still had them! I'd still like to be able to see them, even if we couldn't use them anymore. If it's still in the forum software, it would be interesting to see if a mod could tell us how many downvotes we got before it was removed. I think overall removing them was the right thing though. Let's see if people hate me on here as much as in the real world. They certainly do on GTPlanet!
So, averaging my scores out comes to 847 - 807 = 1.04956 Don't know where that would put me on the board.
Thanks - I often feel like there is a large amount of dislike towards me from lots of people on these forums , I don’t intentionally make people unhappy
It is extremely likely that in a forum such as this, there are posts that we make that people like and that people don’t like. We’ve all got our opinions which we are entitled to. I’m pretty certain that there are posts of mine that you have not liked and vice versa. We also have a right to our replies. As a consequence, I don’t hate you (and I have an issue with this term anyway) and I hope you don’t hate me or anyone else. Healthy debate and disagreement is healthy as long as it doesn’t get abusive.
I don’t strongly dislike anyone on these forums , I just don’t get along with a few users , but that’s fine as none of us get along with everyone
If you click on most positive ratings, I am at the top (have been for a long time), closely followed by londonmidland. I’ll let you all decide who out of the two of us is the best (it won’t be me), and you can see that he tops the points per post list by some considerable margin. Staff are automatically disqualified, leaving him undisputed king of the forum, if such a title were to exist. I have stopped posting so much lately as positive ratings and how much I think my contributions are worthwhile don’t really tally in my head, and because I have posted so much in the two years I’ve been here I think people are finally fed up of listening to me. Most replies I type out now get deleted before posting, and I’ve never been much of a thread starter. I do often think about how much I actually contribute. I’m not that knowledgeable about trains for example. I do have observations and opinions on the game though, and I play it a lot. It’s my top hobby now. When I joined the forum it was quite easy to read every single post on the TSW forum but now I reckon I get to read about half of them despite spending more time here, so the engagement is definitely higher now. That’s not surprising as the game is becoming more and more popular and the forum grows with it. Downvotes were a bad idea and they have been gone a long time.
I'm in the position of not really caring how many likes I get or not. I'm here to read, learn and help where possible (and pass the time). Likes are all well and good but in the end I'm here for me (and some help), not for what others think of me
If you want to be the king of dislikes just mention the fact a PS5 isn’t a necessary purchase to fully enjoy TSW2.
