I think that the new mini HUD is a good option for players, but I've notice in updates that there is a lot of information presented. On a lot of locos and units I don't use the HUD where I can see the control levers at a glance and prefer to use route knowledge to drive the route. With units like the Class 142 and locos like the Class 31 the controls are far to low below the windscreen to be seen when driving, and for this reason I am often driving with the HUD on so the I know where I'm moving the levers, and what to expect from the train. OpenBVE has a HUD that can show just the control inputs and that is nice and unobtrusive. I prefer the Train Sim World approach of showing text at the right of the screen when control inputs are made so what I would really like is to be able to keep this without the information at the top of the screen; so nothing about the route on display. I think that displaying control inputs only would be a nice option for Train Sim World.
There's a setting somewhere which already does this by default. It shows up on screen what's been used, e.g power handle notch 1.
Is there a way to turn off all the other HUD elements? I haven’t seen any setting combination to show only these control inputs without any other information.
I'm not sure which specific HUD element you're talking about, but everything can be separately removed via Keyboard Inputs. The one I've been using using to practice only using the MFD screen in my vectron is ctrl+5. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/keyboard-shortcuts-keyboard-mapping-here-it-is.25433/
That's the bit I want the option to turn off. The only way I think you can get rid of that is by totally removing the HUD which takes away the control input prompts (Throttle 1, Westcode Brake 1 and the likes). When I drive something like a Class 47 or the Class 101, and 150 getting rid of the HUD completely is fine because I can see where the control levers are. I've heard Richard of the Dad Rail YouTube channel wishing for the same ability for driving on routes he knows as a real life train driver. I have a trick when playing my self of putting the small duster cloth that came with my iMac the top left of my screen to hide the unhideable HUD element, but I want to make route learning content for my YouTube channel so the cloth doesn't work for this. I hope this makes sense.
