I've seen a few people ask this over the years, but have never seen any reply from DTG. Why is there no controller rumble in TSW? I fired up TSC the other day and to my surprise there's controller rumble when going over points, track joints, etc. It's quite a nice immersion feature IMO.
It didn't make it to the original console launch and simply hasn't been looked at since - in all honesty. It is something I want to see added though, even if it doesn't make it to PS5 levels of haptics, some rumbles would be nice to have
It’s never been jarring not having it, but it’d be cool to have at some point Feeling the rumble when you have to throw a bit more power to move heavy freight, or if you break suddenly (I’ve over shot platforms…). I've never played TSC with a controller but feeling those little bumps would be nice, AWS warnings and, obviously, collisions.
Passing over rail joints and switches haptic feedback would be very cool, was quite pleased to discover TSC has it for this
Curiously, Raildriver also has a built-in " rumble " speaker which actually works, but I never use it because it requires a separate electrical power plug which is inconvenient.
There’s also a speaker in the controller. Now what could be piped through that as an option? Maybe it would be too tacky to have AWS and Sifa coming through it. It would be good for any radio chatter if that ever comes back to the game. Just a thought. I wouldn’t have rumbles turned on myself as it would annoy me more than thrill me. I’ve said before about this subject that a vibrating controller just feels like a vibrating controller to me and not like anything it is trying to represent, the novelty would wear off after a couple of runs with it on. It should be fairly easy to add it I expect for those who want it.
Now that haptic feedback et al has been confirmed for TSW4, I'm curious if this works across all of the old DLC routes and rolling stock, or is it just for the TSW4 specific content at launch and going forward? Would appreciate confirmation on this if at all possible, DTG JD and DTG Matt?
I believe Matt said he was enjoying the rumble on a BR Class 101. So yes, it sounds like it will work on older routes.
The rumble works on all routes as it's a core feature but the PlayStation specific feature of routing audio through the controller is route specific need programming specifically and is therefore TSW4 routes only (maybe including DRA?!?). I'm unsure about the PS light bar colour refelcting upcoming signal colour though.
Rumble is across all trains and routes on all devices. The light bar is PS4/PS5 across all routes. The safety system audio on PS4/PS5 is ONLY on new trains as the audio needs to be built to map it that way. Matt.
Thank you for all the replies, late to reply as have been streaming TSW3 for over 4 hours, and plan on keeping on going. The news about the rumble is fantastic, been wanting it since day one of Train Sim World 2020 in Game Preview, it's one of my most anticipated features!
Thank You.It's not a bad feature but it hard to concentrate on learning the new features of TSW4 and train driving when your not use to the all the rumbling while trying to just operate your train.
I do like how you can adjust each one! Though it starts to get a tad annoying on NTP going over jointed track. XD You may start going crazy over wether it's the controller your hearing or the game.
Thankfully my handheld has a system level option to disable vibration, otherwise it probably wouldn't still be in working order, as I'd likely have dropped it long before now. I will need to remember if I do get TSW4 to disable it before playing docked though, as it'll probably cause the controller sitting on my desk to start dancing around if I don't.
