Copyright Infringement Brand Logo Harry Potter Infringement Upladed To Creators Club....

Just wondering because the FAQ is specific to cover Amtrak brand/logo ONLY, correct? And not Harry Potter which I assume is only licensable for the real locomotive used by Amtrak, according to Creators club FAQ which is pretty specific.

so what. Why do you have to bring it to the forums and snitch on players creations. If it bothers you, use the report function. Seems like you're the only one bothered by the livery.

SD40Australia please stop posting this at the forums. There is a report button in the Creators Club. Use that to report if you think copyrights are violated. Apart from that, why bother? DTG staff is very capable to check this themselselves.

I made a scenario and shared it and read the terms and conditions....

No brands or logos were to be uploaded except on the list.

I'm just trying to raise awareness that people are actually violating the agreement they CLICK YES to.

Also it would be interesting to DTG provide some more 'advice' for livery designers so they can better plan what they can do. Such as can famous people be put on the side of a locomotive?

Or movie images and posters such as Harry Potter and Star Wars.

The Creators Club FAQ is very specific and the advice is specific:

What about using other real-world brands?

The use of any other real-world brands/trademarks is not allowed. With the exception of the above all liveries created and shared in the Creators Club Beta must be fictional and original work.

Are there any loco models that cannot be uploaded?

Yes, some locomotives are restricted from use with the Creators Club Beta. These currently include the below list. These can be used in the Livery Designer and used locally as you would previously, but not shared.

What do I do if I spot offensive content?

If you see any offensive content on the Creators Club, you may report it in-game by clicking the "Report" button on that content. Offensive content could include, for example, images or descriptions that are racist, abusive, obscene, involve nudity, promote violence, or illegal activity.


What happens when a piece of content is reported?

As soon as a mod is reported, it will be added to a queue for review with a moderation team at Dovetail Games. All flagged content will be reviewed and appropriate action taken.


What happens when a piece of content is removed?

If a mod is removed from the Creators Club Beta because it violates Creators Club terms or is deemed to be offensive, it will be removed. The mod will also be removed from any players that have subscribed to it. The original will be kept by the creator for personal use. Repeated attempts to upload liveries that breach the terms and conditions of the Creators Club Beta may result in your expulsion from using the tool, temporarily or permanently.


What do I do if my content is reported?

If your content is reported, one of two things will happen during the moderation team's evaluation. If approved, the content will be kept on the Creators Club Beta. If it is rejected, the content will be withdrawn, and an icon will be added to the mod to indicate that it has been deleted. This content will still be available for your own personal use.



No further discussion will be entered into.

If you want to raise awarness, maybe you should do it in a friendly way, instead of witch hunting and pointing creators effort.

In fact the quote from the T&C above states exactly what to do if you feel something breaches copyright - use the CC report button. It does not state post whinny weepy little threads about it on the forum.

Unfortunately you won't meet much on these forums other than the response you got.
People don't care about IP or how DTG don't want their licenses revoked, cease and desist orders placed against them etc
What they want is to have everything THEY want and all others be damned.

As they say, the way to deal with this is to use the report button on CC and let DTG deal with it (if they haven't already). Other than that it's not YOUR problem, but I can see how it would be frustrating, annoying and even angering that people do what they want and put the whole thing at possible risk with no recourse to themselves.

 

I advise if there is an issue or query you may have, use the ‘report’ button or send a private message to one of the moderators.

 

The best part is he’s already reported it to WB, (and thus brought us even closer to any ramifications, if any), so it makes this post so incredibly pointless.

This little saga has given me a chuckle though, so I guess it was worth something.

But yes, common sense should prevail here and OP should have just reported & moved on, posting this across multiple communities wasn’t the best idea, sort of made a name for yourself and all that.

Also, before jumping to defend this witch-hunting, I think maybe people should assess what mods, EP’s & CC content they’re using, plenty of what I’ve found to be popular certainly straddles the line of infringement.
