I have only recently started my TSW4 journey.
I am trying to couple the BR Class 66 loco to a BR mk1 Coach on a PS5.
I have tried both Buckeye and Hook but have so far been unsuccessful.
The only way I have managed to couple the coach is by coupling a Brake Van to the Class 66 first, I would like not to have to use a Brake Van between the loco and the coach.
Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thank you 25262....I was wondering that, so maybe I'll have to use a Brake Van first.
Using the "Hook" on both there isn't a chain or anything available to couple.

Don't most of the 66's have both a buckeye and hook? You can normally click on it and it'll change between the of couplers.

If the Mk1 coach you are trying to couple is vacuum braked, the Class 66 (which is air braked) won't be able to couple to it. Air braked or dual braked Mk1 coaches should work fine

That would not affect the coupling because you can have vac only stock with air only loco but you would have no breaks

Thanks to all for your time and help.
I have managed to do what I wanted using the mk2 coaches, it was obviously the braking system, I didn't realise the info on the coaches was actual stuff.....discovered as said above the mk1 coaches are vacuum brakes, hence why it would not couple.
All sorted now and once again a big thanks for the ideas, info and help in this thread.
