Hello everyone, today I have just started having an issue whereupon every time I go to load TSW2, the game gets to the initial loading screen and then goes straight to a black screen, wherein I can't alt+tab, ctrl+alt+del, alt+f4, or use any other combination of keys to try and force-close the game, meaning I have to reset my computer every time. This has happened three times now. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game to no avail.

    System specs:
    GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090 FE
    CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K
Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus Hero XII (Wi-Fi)
    RAM: Crucial Ballistix RGB 32GB (x2) @ 3200mhz
    C drive: Samsung 1TB M.2 SSD
Power Supply: EVGA 80 series Platinum 1200W
CPU cooler: Corsair H150i Pro 360mm
    Monitor: Samsung G9 Odyssey

I have the latest version of Steam, the latest Nvidia drivers, the latest Windows version, and the latest firmware for the monitor. I am using a displayport cable and am connected to ethernet. This computer was literally just assembled two days ago, I was not having this problem on my old system, nor am I having this issue with any other game in my library.

    Here is the output log:

In short, I have literally no idea what's causing this problem, and any help or suggestions would be much appreciated, as I was really looking forward to running this on my new system. I'll happily provide any other data I can if it's needed and if you can tell me where to get it.

    Thanks everyone!

EDIT: The game will now play the loading sounds and the menu music, but the screen is still black. I have ensured that the app is allowed through the firewall and not blocked by any anti-virus, as I have seen that this can sometimes be the case. It will also now allow me to alt+f4 and thus force close the game, which returns me to the desktop.

EDIT 2: Using Steam launch options to force the game to start in windowed mode has gotten me to the menu without any black screens.

EDIT 3: Once in-game, I can enter the settings menu and set the game to fullscreen and it works no problem. However, upon exiting the game and restarting it, I see the same black screen with the menu music in the background, and I have to follow the same process of entering windowed mode for the game to work correctly. While I can at least now play, having to start the game in this way every single time and then go through the process of resetting the graphics options would be a pain, so I hope we can still find a better solution.

Try to scan the game file

On the right-hand side of the picture with the 3 original train for the TWS2, there is gear icon click on it then choose PROPERTIES, then LOCAL FILES, then VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES

That will replace any and all files that maybe corrupted

Thanks - All files have been successfully validated, yet still the issue persists.

If you have installed any mod, like the newspaper and sound for the Bakerloo DLC, I would suggest to remove them

Nope, no mods for me - it's a clean game install and all of my previous saves were clean as well.

It seems you are like me, got a top of the range gaming machine, yet the game will not run, like I have said before i installed an earlier Geforce Graphics Driver (446.14) and it cured all my crashing problems

For what it's worth, I've just upgraded from a GTX 1070 to an RTX 3080 and have not experienced any crashing issues on the latest Nvidia driver, v457.51.

You say that the game crashes in fullscreen mode. Is this in exclusive fullscreen, borderless (windowed) fullscreen, or both?

My goodness, with those specs, the game should be running like a hot knife through butter. I'd be looking at a system problem, can't be the sim that's causing it to crash. Run a complete hardware and system diagnosis.

Interesting - I haven't tried that yet. I'll check that out and see if it helps.

It's exclusive to fullscreen - borderless windowed works in the same way windowed does, wherein I have to force it to start that way and then tab out and back in.

That's what I would've thought as well. And I've run a few diagnostics - my GPU, CPU, and RAM haven't shown any problems and I haven't encountered this issue in any other titles, which is why I opened this thread, as it seems to me like a game issue.
