Just wondering if there is any news on this constant crashing near the end of the WCML over Shap runs. It seems to happen regularly in the last few miles before Preston and Carlisle. This is on an Xbox Series S. I realise I can save the game and resume it but this is a frustration on an otherwise fantastic route.

H JT Benedict (sorry for tagging you again) , the crashes are before Carlisle and Preston, could these be fixed or is it a core issue as I feel the fps drops quite low at places such as Preston and Carlisle

I have completed this journey on Series S. I would say I got intermittent crashing. It wasn't necessarily near the termini, although this was definitely the riskiest area. It seems mostly to be associated with harder braking; the game seems to have a lot of trouble slowing the scenery. But sometimes it would crash out of nowhere and for no apparent reason. I saved frequently and honestly didn't find it too bad to put up with, although that is subjective. I am running all layers. Here's what I recommended:

    1) Limit downloaded liveries, not just for this route but across the game.

    2) Turn off volumetric fog and run HD not 4K.

    3) Don't run in precipitation (impossible to follow this in journey mode)

    4) Try not to use the map,and if you do use it, zoom all the way out before you close it

    5) Don't use photo mode, or save the game right before you do

Perhaps this will make it more manageable. You could also try disabling some layers but as I said I have all of them and don't find it too unbearable. At this point DTG are unlikely to do anything except reduce the Series S timetable for future releases, which will limit our choices while also not fixing anything. Maybe future optimizations will help. Good luck.

I don't think its the timetable as other big timetables haven't resulted in crashes such as SEH. I think its to do with unoptimized scenery on the route or unoptimized rolling stock

Agreed, I don't think it's the timetable (layers) either, for reasons you point out. However, this is the "solution" DTG keeps turning to for Series S problems, real or imagined.

On the positive, its only German stuff which in some ways has a mixture in the timetables. The British and USA have the full timetables which is Great as well

I think it's also a Dovetail issue as third parties include full timetables such as JT
