So, before I even attempt to learn another piece of design and editing software, I was just wondering. Is it possible to create entirely new routes, or do you have to build onto the official routes? I'm wanting to try and create the route that runs through my neighborhood. It's CSX territory, it's single track op w/ a few passing sidings and A LOT of coal load outs, from yard to end of the line is approx 30 track miles of curvy 20mph max permitted speed branch line. It's only coal traffic, save for the county lumber co. that it served into the early 90s. I would love to run it in a sim.
You can only build entirely new routes. Its nearly impossible to edit or extend existing content. Only possible things are additions which dont affect the route itself like enhancements for scenery, new audios (for example station announcements) etc. The Salzburg to Rosenheim enhancement pack is probably the best example for what is possible. If you dont know it already, route building is extremely difficult and is nearly nowhere compareable with TS Classics route editor. That does not mean its impossible and if you put enough effort into it then you for sure will be succesfull. Best examples are SFS Ingolstadt-Nürnberg, Frankfurt-Friedberg or the one already released as a 3rd party project being Mildmay line.
