Having been trainsimming since Microsoft's first train simulator I have been through a lot of fun and frustration. Recently I have just stuck to Zusi, as you know what you get. It just works, and all the signalling is bulletproof. But, after all the negativity on the forums about TSW5, I have to say that I am having an absolute blast. I am running it in VR and using JetWash's excellent .ini improvements. It looks and drives fantastically. Added to this, the Frankfurt - Fulda route is a masterpiece. I am sure that Maik and his team must have a hand in this. Apart from a few LZB niggles with different Locos, the route is beyond anything I would ever have expected. Lots of traffic, lots of having to pay attention to signals (not just a simple run from A to B). All this to say, there is always (and sometimes justifiably) a lot of moaning on these forums. I personally think that DTG have knocked it out of the park with TSW5 and the Fulda route. I hope they backport the suspension onto some of the older Locos too.and I hope in the future we get more routes of the quality of Niedertalbahn and Frankfurt/Fulda and less like West Coast Main Line (which in comparison is dire).
