I would like to suggest adding the Cross Country Class 220/221 "Voyager/Super Voyager" into the game. While I am aware of claims XC won't provide a licence, I am making this recommendation regardless - even if the loco was only to be added once XC has been taken out of private ownership in 2027. Frankly, I'd rather see them in the current livery rather than the upcoming livery. However, it would be interesting if the loco DLC was set in the transition period - such that it came with "OG" livery XC units, units that transferred from Avanti, and the new design - so 3 variants. I’d be shocked if we didn’t see either the Voyagers or a 225 set in the not too distant future! Both are so iconic in their own polar opposite ways.. hopefully the former comes with vibration updates!
How about the 222 Meridian for MML? Build all 3 classes together and reserve the 220 and 221 until licensing is worked out. In the meantime, they are ready to go with just one build necessary saving on time, money and resources.
I'd be up for that. Only been on a Meridian twice so didn't know enough about differences to make a recommendation, but to all intents and purposes it just looked kind of like a 7 car 220 to me.
All 3 are built near identical with Class 221 (I think) having tilting technology as well. This is just one of a number of examples of where combined builds seems logical in order to make savings for future projects. Just Trains showed how it could be done with the Class 142 featuring multiple variations of mechanical equipment depending on which era is required.
We desperately need voyagers in TSW as well as the 225s, either would be a very welcome edition and would add variety to existing routes, as well as opening up opportunities for new routes. Hopefully we get them soon.
The only problem I see is there’s only one other route coming soon to the game that actually could have drivable services for the 220/221 which would be the short section between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport in the Manchester airport commuter line. This means that only Fife circle and Manchester airport commuter can have these services. Either way it would still be a brilliant addition and could be even better if it included the AWC livery and interior for the 221 on the WCMLS. Also maybe even a grand central livery for PBO-DON.
Perhaps a bit off topic for this thread but in regards to Fife Circle I'd like a class 800 Azuma for the LNER services up to Aberdeen
100% off topic, but 100% fine with me as I 100% agree! An LNER Class 800 suggestion thread is on my to do list lol
