Area Covered: This route would cover eastern portion of the CSX Cumberland Subdivision (Harpers Ferry, WV to Weaverton, MD), the entirety of the Metropolitan Subdivision (Weaverton, MD to Washington, D.C.), and a portion of the CSX Old Main Line (Point of Rocks, MD to Frederick, MD OR to Baltimore, MD). These are all former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Lines and begin the history of railroading in the United States. Operations: Just east of the beginning of the route, Harpers Ferry, is a CSX yard, although MARC (Maryland Area Regional Commuter) does have a facility there too. Brunswick Yards would have cars dropped off by 2 trains each day, Q413 and Q414, and a yard switcher would make up many industrial switchers for the area. All road trains would run between Harpers Ferry, WV and Washington, D.C. (many of which need a helper to make it over the grade) A local train would run out of Brunswick and work industries on the Old Main Line before returning to Brunswick (D786) A local train would run out of Brunswick and work Pepco Power Plant (Dickerson, MD), swapping empty ash cars with loaded ash cars and then returning to Brunswick (B709) A local train would run out of Gaithersburg, MD to Pepco Power Plant taking loaded trash containers (gray intermodal containers) and swapping them with empty trash cars before returning to Sears siding in Gaithersburg, MD (D765) A local train would run out of Brunswick bound for Washington, D.C. with various cars before returning back to Brunswick (D782) MARC would run on a timetable like this: https://images.app.goo.gl/9xHwgg6GjXezQkHA9 With Martinsburg trains originating at Harpers Ferry, WV and Brunswick, MD and Frederick, MD trains originating at those locations. Helper Operations: Road Trains that need helpers stop east of Brunswick and helper locomotives connect to the rear of the train. They would shove the train to Gaithersburg before the train stops and the helpers disconnect. Personally would love this. Great amount of detail you provided too. Hopefully it gets added at some point.
Some of CSX's rebuilts: SD40-3s, GP38-3s, GP40-3s, etc. would be nice to see. I'd prefer a GP40-2/-3 rather than the GP38-2. I'd love to see a CSX ST70AH, ET44AH, SD80MAC, and/or CW60AC/rebuilt ES46AC/AH (AC6000CWs with GEVO-16 Prime Movers; technically rated at 5800HP, downgraded to 4600HP). CSX's new Heritage ES44AHs (especially the B&O and Chessie units) would be awesome to see on this route, especially double-headed on a freight train. I'd also love to see the CSX first responders and military-liveried ES44AHs.
