The longest routes in the windy city of Chicago: Blue & Red lines. On the Blue Line: it's a 33 station, 27 mile route runs between Forest Park or UIC/Halsted [except late night] & O'Hare Airport. It carries more than 186,000 commuters since 9/12. With 2600 [2601-3200] & 3200 [3201-3457]-series train fleets are married-pairs, soon the new 7000-series set in 2020 [replacing the 2600s]. On the Red Line: it's a 33 station, 23 mile up-down route with a 5000-Series train set [5001-5714]; the route between 95th St-Dan Ryan or Ashland Ave-63rd St on the Green Line [Rush-Hours only] & Howard. The line also cross under State St between Roosevelt St & Clybourn Ave. with numerous attractions including the legendary Wrigley Field, the home of the Cubs. It also has a Thirteenth St Ramp & Portal between Roosevelt & Cermak Rd-Chinatown station via the Green Line for back up. Future extended to 130th St in Far South Side Chicago, stops include 103rd & 111th Sts, and Michigan Ave. On late night, both routes had to ride the 4-car set & every 15 minutes; daily on eight cars.

actually, its not all that similar the LIRR and CTA have very different operating principles and they have quite a bit different rolling stock and how the service is laid out is very different aswell.
