So Creators Club seems to work well for me, I can browse it, subsribe, download, upload, everything is fine. So I went ahead and subsribed to a few liveries, like repainted freight cars for Sand Patch Grade and Sherman Hill, also a few MBTA F40PH liveries for Boston Sprinter. And while the F40PH liveries show up in livery selection for my own train, in my recent runs I havn't seen a single AI train spawn in any of the subscribed liveries. I also have two F40PH liveries made my myself, and an SD40-2 one, and they used to show up on AI locomotives on the route, but since the Creators Club update they also seem to be gone. All AI rolling stock are in the original liveries. Anyone experiencing the same? Is it an issue introduced with Creators Club, or my recent runs were just unlucky? From all the F40PHs parked at Boston South, the ones coming past me during the run, and out of all the SD40-2s and freight cars on the sidings, surely at least some of them should've spawned in one of the custom liveries, no?
Alright, it seems I was just very unlucky previously, as today I had one AI driven F40PH spawning in one of the liveries, also a few of the freight cars. Though I wish the spawn rate of the custom liveries would be a bit higher, as most of the rolling stock is still in their original liveries, even though I'm subscribed to many freight car repaints. How does it even work? Does subscribing to more liveries of a given rolling stock increase the chance of a custom paint spawning (as there are more chances for it to randomly choose a custom one), or it's always the same?
I have tried to work it out, but come to no conclusions. The type of car seems to be a factor: on Sand Patch (since I have a lot of custom liveries for it), coal hoppers and boxcars spawn one or two alt-liveries nearly all the time (or did, until a recent update screwed things up), but tank cars or grain hoppers only once in a month of Sundays. And for whatever strange reason, Clinchfield will not spawn alt-liveries on cars at all; not once have I ever seen one (locos, fortunately, do). Again, DTG really, really need to give the user control over spawn rates, a slider from "never" to "every one."
Yes!!! A rarity slider if you will. Maybe even a minimum spawn rate for certain things like this boxcar can spawn if hooked up to five more
Yeah, that would be great. Even a simple never-rare-normal-common setting would do the job, so you could set each livery accordingly. Ideally they should even give us the options to turn off the default livery as long as he have something to replace it with.
That might run into problems with the legal department; the TOCs who grant licenses do so in the expectation their trademarks will be seen.
I can't even use the liveries I've subscribed too, I don't see it anywhere on the selection screen when doing timetables, and I don't see any AI trains using them. EDIT: Should add, I figured out how to get them to show...I have to manually go through each one and toggle the subscribe button off and then on again. However, this seems to reset each time I close the game...meaning I have to do this every time I log back on.
This is still an issue in TSW3. Any liveries downloaded for Talent2, M7, BR425 and probably a lot others I didn't test simply will not show up once in game, unable to chose them in timetable. Also, the new UI does a really poor job at showing the liveries before getting on the route and we also lost the ability to see the weather and time of day in real time before jumping in to the service, but that is another issue.
