    DLC CZECH MOUNTAIN ROUTE
    Brno – Olomouc – Zábřeh – Šumperk – Jeseník

    ️ROUTE OVERVIEW
This route connects Brno, the largest city in Moravia, with one of the most beautiful mountain regions in the Czech Republic, the Jeseníky Mountains.
It offers a smooth transition from busy city and corridor traffic to peaceful forest valleys and dramatic mountain sections.
The route runs through Olomouc, Zábřeh na Moravě, and Šumperk to the mountain station of Jeseník.
It combines modern electric operation on the main line with classic diesel mountain operation, creating an exceptionally varied and visually attractive route.

Scenic highlights – Mountain section Zábřeh na Moravě – Jeseník

One of the strongest and most atmospheric parts of this route is the mountain section between Zábřeh na Moravě and Jeseník. Almost every station along this line offers unique scenery and strong visual identity – perfect for immersive gameplay.

    Ruda nad Moravou
    – River Morava valley, forested slopes and a narrow mountain corridor
    – Perfect for morning fog, autumn colours and slow heavy freight climbing

    Hanušovice
    – Open valley with brewery buildings, sidings and an industrial atmosphere
    – Strong freight and shunting potential

    Jindřichov na Moravě
    – Narrow gorge, bridges and forest walls surrounding the line
    – Dramatic light and shadow, very “Alpine-style” feeling

    Branná
    – Beautiful historic village with Branná Castle towering directly above the railway
    – Iconic medieval scenery right next to the tracks

    Ostružná
    – High mountain plateau with deep forests, open meadows and wind turbines on the ridgelines
    – Strong “open mountain landscape” feeling with dramatic weather
    – Perfect for heavy snow, icing, strong winds and demanding winter scenarios

    Ramzová
    – One of the most famous mountain stations in the region
    – Mountain resort, cable cars, ski slopes, steep gradients and tight curves
    – A true highlight for cinematic driving

    Horní Lipová / Lipová Lázně
    – Wide mountain valley, spa architecture and forest scenery
    – Calm contrast after the steep mountain section

    Jeseník
    – Mountain terminal station surrounded by peaks, forests and spa buildings
    – Natural “end of the line” atmosphere, ideal for regional and freight operations
This part of the route would bring a completely different atmosphere compared to classic flat main lines – fog, snow, steep gradients, tight curves and true mountain railroading ️❄️

while I am myself a Slovak and so I do understand this nice suggestion, you are severely limiting the reach and appeal of this post by posting it in Czech, which most of users here dont understand at all (and machine translation might still be far from perfect)

and apart from the language issue, while I like it in general cos it is CZ/SK rolling stock, it is focused on vintage stock, and to be honest, I prefer Skoda InterPanter, City Elefant and Vectron, aka more modern rolling stock (also ComfortJet/CD RailJet)

Thank you very much for the constructive feedback, I really appreciate it.
You are absolutely right – I will now start updating the proposal into English to make it accessible to the wider TSW community.
The route is planned mainly as a modern Czech main line, so rolling stock such as InterPanter, CityElefant, ComfortJet / Railjet and Vectron absolutely fit the concept and are very welcome.
The original mention of older rolling stock was meant mainly for possible heritage layers, but the primary focus will be modern high-capacity passenger and freight services.
I will be preparing a full English “official DLC proposal” version of this route very soon.

I am kinda biased cos City Elefant, to be more specific the Slovak version, because back when first Slovak 671/971s started appearing (I guess mainly in Western Slovakia, so also on my "home route"), they were so much nicer than the old cr...y coaches (the ugly and ewww green ones)... they were also fast and smooth (and still are)

those still are my fav piece of rolling stock in Slovakia (I love Stadler KISS 160 6car units, but there are only a couple units that rarely serve my home route)

    Absolutely – I feel this 100%.
The Slovak CityElefant units (671/971) were such a huge step forward when they appeared. They were fast, comfortable, modern and honestly still feel great even today. Compared to the old green classics, they really brought suburban rail into a new era.
That’s exactly why I’d love to see CityElefant as one of the key trains for this route in TSW. They are iconic for Slovakia, very popular with passengers, and visually they would add a lot of character and realism to the line.
Stadler KISS 160 is also an amazing train – modern, powerful and perfect for high-capacity services. Having both CityElefant and KISS in the same DLC would honestly be a dream combo and would make the route feel truly contemporary and premium.

    Forum caption

Here is a simplified map of the Moravian railway network together with an overview of the complete Czech railway network.
It shows the main national corridors as well as the key regional lines in Moravia, highlighting how the Haná and Jeseníky regions are connected.
The map includes the main Brno – Olomouc – Zábřeh – Šumperk – Jeseník axis and important regional branches from Olomouc.
It is meant to demonstrate the overall structure, density and potential of the Czech railway network as a strong base for future TSW routes.

my own suggestion where these units are the core part... 671/971, InterPanter, with KISS, Vectron, 263 and possibly 361-ETCS modernized for longer distance and express services (and depending on development resources, "Laminatka" for REX and freight and others could be added later)

    Reply suggestion:
Thank you, this is exactly the kind of layered fleet concept I have in mind.
The idea behind this route is to represent a complete living network, not just a single train.
CityElefant and KISS would form the modern high-capacity backbone, InterPanter would cover fast regional and express services, and locomotives like Vectron, 263 and 361-ETCS would create a realistic long-distance and freight layer.
This combination would allow the route to offer a very wide range of services — suburban, regional, express and freight — and give players a lot of operational variety.
“Laminátka” would be an excellent candidate for future layers or expansions, especially for REX and freight, and would add a classic Czech character on top of the modern fleet.
I really appreciate your support — feedback like this helps shape the route into something that could feel both realistic and premium.

also, I suggested Western Slovakia cos honestly, this triangle, plus the whole corridor to Zilina and then from Galanta towards Hungary are the fastest routes in Slovakia, I think, and they also get the best rolling stock in the country :D (while lets say Eastern Slovakia still has to get by with vintage stock - they still run "Pantograf" EMUs there that I remember from my childhood as being the trains serving the connecting route to Trnava :D )

Díky za skvělý postřeh – máte naprostou pravdu, že západní Slovensko je dnes jakýmsi „výkladním skříní“, co se týče infrastruktury a moderního vozového parku.
Osobně to vidím trochu jinak – možná spíš srdcem než tabulkami.

thats why I really started appreciating modernized 361s - fresh coat of paint, ETCS, 160 kph vmax, but still with vintage feel... also Austrian 1144 is a beast, capable of 160 kph with a mighty rumble of old

Přesně! To jsi vystihl úplně dokonale

I like the modern stock tho - Siemens Desiro ML for example... might be simple to operate and relatively silent, but the sound of traction motors is marvellous (InterPanter must be using the same ones cos they sound almost identical)... but the ACCELERATION... my first ride as a passenger, I still remember... taking S2 from Wien Hbf (lower level) to Seyring, and as soon as it left Vienna limits, the acceleration pushed me into my seat :) ... also took CJX 5 from St. Polten to Wien (and once CJX 9 from Baden to Wien), and DAAAAMN :)

I totally get what you mean — modern EMUs like Desiro ML, CJX S-Bahn sets or Railjets have absolutely insane acceleration and traction control, and that smooth, continuous torque from modern asynchronous motors is addictive
From a pure performance and efficiency point of view, they are incredible machines.
My heart, however, is a bit more on the old-school diesel side — not because they are “better”, but because they are mechanically raw and honest in a way modern stock simply isn’t anymore.
Locomotives like the Bardotka, Brejlovec have almost no electronic filtering between the engine and the driver: direct mechanical governors, hard gear transitions, no sound insulation, no heavy mufflers, minimal vibration damping.
What you hear and feel in the cab is basically the engine talking directly to you.
From a simulation point of view, that creates a completely different experience — you are not just managing traction curves and software logic, you are literally managing a living machine: engine RPM, load, temperature, sound, vibration and traction all at once.
Modern EMUs feel like perfectly tuned instruments.
Old diesel locomotives feel like wild animals you have to understand and respect — and that’s exactly the kind of driving experience I personally love in a sim ️

speaking of diesels, I kinda grew to admire modern US diesels - like F125, various iterations of Siemens Charger locos... those are fast, modern looking diesels, not slow moving/accelerating slugs of the past (the streamlined trainsets that BrightLine uses on BrightLine Florida route are perfect examples of how even diesels can be done in highspeed)

as for involvement, thats why I like Taurus - it has some computer stuff, some modern electronics, but the driver's input and such is still very involved affair (much like BR 101 Expert DLC is)... but I also like Vectron - if the game had Ebula, that would be like cherry on top of that one :)

And honestly — if I ever had the money and space, I would buy a Bardotka without hesitation.
One of the reasons is that there is almost no complex electronics inside. It’s mostly mechanical systems, real pumps, valves, governors, shafts and levers — things you can actually see, hear and understand.
With an experienced mechanic, I would honestly feel confident enough to help maintain and repair it. I understand mechanical systems and old-school machinery — that logic just makes sense to me.
Once everything becomes hidden inside software, control units and sealed electronic modules, it turns into a black box. And I’m not an electrician — so for me, that mechanical honesty is exactly what makes old locomotives so beautiful and approachable ️❤️

Since I am a trained machine mechanic, I work on maintenance and repair machines in a factory. I would take on a locomotive like the Bardotka, repair it, take a train driver's course, and build a siding with a depot in the neighboring village. There, I would repair it, organize nostalgic rides, etc. If I had the money, it would be feasible.

I am from Galanta (tho I live in Bratislava for like a decade now), which has long been an important railway junction/hub - located on the Bratislava - Nové Zámky - Štúrovo (and then to Hungary) mainline, while also having connection to Trnava... so there has been and still is a lot of freight in all directions... and from my childhood I still remember, back when there was no Samsung factory there... there had been a BIG furniture plant, with its own industry tracks, locos, shunters and everything, connected to the mainline... it was right at the other far end of our street :D ... so sometimes my dad or mom would take me there to watch trains over the fence :))) ... those tracks and such are long gone now

That’s honestly an amazing story — and it explains perfectly why you feel that way about old rolling stock
People who actually work with machines and mechanical systems always see trains differently than someone who only knows software and screens.
That mechanical, hands-on relationship with a locomotive is exactly what I’m trying to bring into TSW with ideas like the Jeseníky / Bardotka concept.
It’s not just about speed, ETCS and efficiency — it’s about feeling the machine, hearing it struggle, managing it, respecting it.
Routes like Liberec – Stará Paka or Zábřeh – Šumperk are perfect for that kind of experience, because they still feel like “real railway”, not just high-speed corridors.
And honestly — I think there are many players who would absolutely love to drive something that feels alive and mechanical again, not just another silent EMU ️
I hope that TSW developers will start working on more Czech or Slovak railway networks, because it's a shame that we are so neglected. We have beautiful trains and surroundings that would fit well into TSW. We have beautiful landscapes and places from both Czechia and Slovakia. TSW is already overflowing with foreign trains, but Czechia and Slovakia still have nothing, with only the first map to be released. And yet, Czech and Slovak railways have many fans who would play it even from abroad.I will fight for Czechia and Slovakia so that we can make our mark with developers with new maps and trains. anyway, maybe you know that guy, but still - I have recently discovered videos of a Czech train driver Zbynek Koudelka... often does funny vlogs about a day in service - shows how he prepares before a shift, then shows a tiny bit of setup, showcases the route and various things he does throughout the day etc. ... both funny and full of info :) (he often does drive stuff like Jihlava - Brno with a diesel loco like one of those you describe)

and not to bash old machines - it is often down to how well they are maintained, also visually... when they are freshly/properly painted, they can look quite imposing... even "Laminatka" which looks downright ugly when dirty and such, but in red/white livery of ZSSK it looks cool :)
