IMG_0147.jpeg Calling our French friends… Trying to find out where this structure masquerading as the Channel Tunnel is located, as seen in S2 Ep6 of the Walking Dead spin off, Daryl Dixon The Ballad of Carol.

My initial thoughts were Woodhead in the UK but it looks wrong and there is no rusty track leading in there. A bit of Googling revealed somewhere in Northern France but can’t pinpoint any closer.

It appears that the Tunnel de l’Ave Maria located at the municipality of Le Portel in the Department of Pas-de-Calais, was used for the scene, maybe the other entrance was added in post-production with 3D rendering.

Interesting fact, it’s not far away from the old Hoverport of Boulogne closed in 1991 for an obvious reason, it was used to travel to Dover.

    Edit: Try these coordinates 50,71397° N, 1,57558° E or these 50.7140830, 1.5756459

    Thank you kind sir! Boulogne.

Though hopefully in reality no glowing zombies inside.

    You’re welcome !

You might actually find another variant of zombies which actually exists and is more commonly known as crackheads !

Good point. It looks as if they did film so far into the tunnel but I bet there were plenty of security personnel on hand. The action shots were probably done on a studio set.

Another old railway tunnel in a movie filmed in France is somewhere on the Petire Ceinture in Paris, in the film “As Above, So Below”. The characters were using it to gain illicit access to the Catacombs via a side passage. Not sure if that would actually be possible in reality, of course!
