When i stop a db 103 at any station the train shuts down or perhaps powers down,And when i tries to go it won't power back up,i try reseting the power active system but even if it kicks back on it still won't move.So what should one do to avoid station stall outs?

Did you set the tap changer to zero? If you put on the brakes the traction lock engages, meaning you can't add power again after the brakes are released and the throttle/tap changer is reset all the way down.

On the lower right side of the wheel is a dial with a RUN UP RUN DOWN HOLD and AUTOMATIC options i didn't know what it did but just tried it and power kick on on the run up option and train started to move yet power output still read 0.

You need to play the tutorial for the train, it'll teach you how to drive it.

I can't tell if you mean you watched Matt drive it, which was not what I was referring to when I was talking about the tutorial, or Matt made the in-game tutorial himself.

The 103 works fine. You have to make sure the tap is at 0, brakes are released, not in the off position, don't turn on the transformer switch for longer than 2-3 minutes since it will short out the engine. The switch is used for faster acceleration purposes. Once you have doors closed, brakes released and taps to 0, you should be able to move.

That first phrase I think the key: on any old tap-changer loco, you cannot have current flowing to the traction motors when you engage brakes, or it will pop the breaker (otherwise you would get loud noises and lots of smoke, and an engine that really won’t go). In the revised 143/112 I believe they installed an interlock instead, but it’s still bad practice to brake before the power zeros out.

Return tap changer to zero, wait for a few seconds, hear the two clicky sound, then you can accelerate again.
