I was considering buying this in the sale and wondered if it was worth it? I seem to remember complaints that it didn’t come with much in the way of services & scenarios. Is it a quality loco?
Well I've had a good time but it's a bit of gamble if DTG fixes the sound issues with MSB. At the moment, when I want to drive the 204, I do it in warm weather so I can open the loco windows safely without getting cold ;-) But you are pretty limited in terms of "where to go" since the yard is controlled by a signaller. Haven't tried scenario builder yet.
Ignore all of the usual nitpickers, rivet counters [built-in pun intentional], naysayers, and "broken" shouters: if you like shunting, this engine would be worth buying at twice the price; if you don't, save your money.

I have both and the br 363 is miles (or kilometers?) better and literally one of the best addons in tsw. Services are more interesting, physics are accurate and sounds are great. Also, you get new freight wagons. As with most other german locos, the preservation process made the 204 sound worse in the cab. The 204 is still good but I would only get it on sale and after the 363. 363 is shunting only while the 204 offers a bit of mainline action
I think that the 204 is ok with respect to the model, sounds, physics (not 10/10, but 7/10 maybe). The problem is the gameplay. The service mode is s*. They added a mainline scenario a few months after release, which is pretty long but boring (no mainline services). Definitely not worth the full price, but since the question was about buying during sales, maybe yes. The 363 is at a different level in every aspect btw.
