It is impossible for the DB BR 420 to be published.
It is now an inseparable symbiosis with the Road Map.
In users the imbalance could be unbearable.
    A true cataclysm.
It would be like trying to break a spell.

The 420 has been finished for a while now. Apparently the problem is the HMA route timetable- it's full. There's no room to just add a 420 layer, the whole thing will have to be overhauled first.

Well if you delete 423, it wouldn't be full anymore, no?

Huh? You can have multiple timetables per route.

I think the issue is it makes no sense to make a new model for a legacy lighting system.

The signalling on the route is really bad, the safety systems are broken, and it uses the old lighting system. You probably could make a new timetable, in fact someone on the Editor forum is doing just that, but unless DTG rip out all the signals and start over, the end result is going to suck nearly as bad as the original. And saddling a loco DLC with a home route this unattractive isn't going to be good for sales.

Dtg should use the opportunity and:

    - update the route to tsw4 standard incl. Timetable
    - extend it to kufstein over rosenheim
    - br 420 as loco dlc for players with the route only, or the extension.

Even with a route update, just the loco dlc is probably not enough. But an extended münchen / augsburg would create a bigger hype.

or they will end up like the 420 in a couple months. I keep saying it but dissolving the preservation crew seems like not a great idea as now devs are doing that work in their free time and the list of broken DLC keeps growing. with the update to LIRR maybe we'll see a preservation crew or something along those lines working on paid complete reworks of old routes. I think a lot of old routes now would benefit from a complete redo like LIRR instead of just a TOD4 thrown onto it. with that model preservation crew actually makes money too. if it stays buisness as usual then ig we need a new roadmap box for "projects finished but unable to be released" I genuinely feel bad for the work that people put into making the 420, and all those who really want it. hope one day we'll see it ingame

There is no S-bahn going to Rosenheim - Kufstein. the 420 drove the S4, S2 and I think S6 too. it makes more sense to extend those lines. I suppose the easiest being the S4 past pasing and the hardest one to go towards München Ost. if the 420 is to come I'd say it can be used on SKA or HRR as well since they drive there. to get it on MAG I'd say a lighting and signal update is needed first. after that there can be talks of an extension.

HMA barely gets talked about these days and hasn’t been for a long time, it’s clearly low on the priority list for DTG even though there’s a potentially popular dlc waiting to be added. There’s no reason for me to believe DTG will go back to HMA and the 420 after all this time unless there’s another routes it can be used for. There’s no hope.

I would imagine the next roadmap is gonna show a bit of what the now empty list after all the releases will be. it's been a lot of releases lately and it wouldn't suprise me if we have a couple months of not much happening now. I doubt there will be nothing new to report because that means they either have some projects who are not ready to be announced or they are working on nothing. Since they had no time to make more than one austrian coach I suspect there is something happening behind the screens. if that's new projects. a big patch wave I hope many people work. or some core improvements. I can't say. there has been a lot talked about on random streams or forum answers. I expect just like TSW5, there is no being sure if, when or how anything will come. I suppose it can be annoying having a 50th tsw5 thread but it's a great way for DTG to see what the community thinks about stuff. same goes for route updates, extensions or new rolling stock and routes suggestions. it's a shame to see no communication on why it might take longer for stuff like the 420 or LIRRv2. making everyone just get angry and speculate the worst. I don't think they don't want to update HMA or extend it. I do agree with how it is now it might be a lot of work and it feels a bit empty. but an answer on why there is no progress on the 420 although it looked very near finished and has now been 3 years since it has been announced. I think by now it's time to either be honest it's not gonna work and rip it or make some move to implementing it somewhere. Whatever new is gonna release and how it best seen on the roadmap. sadly since TSW4 they have become less detailed and now we see everything move to the "no damn clue when we'll work on it or release it" it's sad to see such potential go to waste.

No idea where you got that info from, but that's no true. I stopped the work on it when i realised that MAG is a big problem. And as it seems to today, those problems will not being solved at all. The route is too old and would need a massively overhaul. No one will spend time into something that old. Neither DTG nor TSG. The big mistake on my side was to not see it coming. But we have new plans for the 420.

That's cool to hear. LOVE happens that DTG decided to not update older routes anymore. glad it is still being worked on, hope to see it on the SKA timetable update or maybe HRR if that gets updated one day. it's own route might also be possible but I'm not sure where else it drives

Nah, actually, there never really was an 'announcement'. Back then, it was more a public brainstorming, like 'If we would start modelling right now, we've got enough data/information on this, that or this loco'. That got somehow cooked up by the community, and baam, it was suddenly on the roadmap. It may have been at least the initial 'motivation' for TSG to start modelling own stuff, which wasn't bad at all, we all need sometimes a 'kick in the right direction', but well, calling this an 'announcement´ all in all, feels wrong at least to me.

ah. I didn't know it happened like that. but as Maik said above here, disproving me saying nobody ever communicates and after so long and DTG not willing to do anything to MAG they might as well pull the 420 off the roadmap. they have new plans and I can't wait to hear about them.

I just saw the change to my post above this one. wasn't aware the profanity filters went that far but an amazing change. I'll use that from now on :D

It drives a few supplem, ental services on the Köln S19, which is in the game; but only a few. In the Rhein-Ruhr area they handle the S68, which is not in the game.

Note also that the 420, at least as Maik was building it, was the completel,y overhauled modern Munich version, not the unchanged units that are used on the Rhein

I've never had any problems with either of that...

No, something that isn't good for sales however is announcing something and then delaying it for half a decade, interest will naturally die out, and by the time it arrives, so will the majority of the player base...

ahhh. I'm not very familliar with the EMU. starting my own editor project I am learning a lot on what drove where and how in the München area though. and how DTG got some things perfectly right but some completely wrong. it's interesting comparing the real life timetable to the ingame one.

I gave the route multiple chances playing completely different services, and every single time I essentially ragequit TSW after getting penalty braked at signals that were displaying completely clear aspects but still had active PZB magnets.

In my opinion, the route is genuinely unplayable (with safety systems on) unless DTG rip out all the signals and PZB Magnets and start over.

Interesting- I've never had a problem with HMA, except that the S-Bahn services are almost impossible to keep on time (AI generated schedules)

We went through the same privatisation thing, tax-founded infrastructure became profit seeking companies. Started when Deutsche Bundesbahn became Deutsche Bahn AG. Too tight timetables, bad working conditions, employee burnouts etc...

Which is completely unrealistic (IRL, you would get angry passenger complaints and an unpleasant conversation with the boss). Yes, that works because that's what AI trains do.

Braking hard isn't an issue at all nor unrealistic on these rapid transit systems, as long as you don't throw the stick, and release a bit of brake before coming to a complete stop. I've only gotten compliments, so far anyway.

Oh and being late without any justified reason will definitely get you in trouble over time, passengers will complain even if you are only 2 minutes late, in my experience anyway.

  36. As I have said elsewhere, I do not believe this DLC will ever be released. We have had 2 full games, 3 if you count rush hour as TSW2.5, about 40 DLCs, the PC Editor, and loads of other things before this. In a year if this isn't released, i am sure that we will get a meme saying that GTA 6 came before the 420. DTG clearly do not care about HMA or the 420, even though it would probably sell well. It has been in development for nearly 4 years now. For contrast, the PC Editor was promised around September 2018 and finally released 5 years later. 1 more year and we will have waited longer for this thing then we did for the PC Editor. The only was this thing gets released is if someone uses the PC editor to make one, and I can say that will not be me doing that.

Sorry do you know that the 420 isnt a DTG product?!

  38. yes i do. my point is that DTG dont give a damn about the 420 so they won't update HMA because all DTG cares about is money. The release of this DLC is as others have said dependant on DOVETAIL GAMES on updating their route.

So the point is TSG has created the model thats based on the HMA version.... So there is no other route to sell it for. And HMA is to old to fix this issues to let it work.

Tsg was not always working on the 420 for the entire time. They had other projects that took priority and anything dtg made. Maik did say above he has other plans for the 420 so maybe a different route as the home route

One possibility might be: It comes for a new route we don't know, yet.

Something around Munich? Posssible! And then TSG doesn't have to rebuild the cab.

Around Stuttgart? Doubt (for now), as BaWü doesn't have open access to LIDAR.

Around Frankfurt? Also possible if DTG builds the route. We know that Lukas wishes for a long time to get Frankfurt into TSW. But it means they have to rebuild the 420 cab again. Which imo is doable. Additonal work, but for sure not impossible.

In the past two roadmap articles there were new screenshots of the BR 420. I love that we get a version with the old pocket-doors. It is a beautiful model but unfortunately not flawless. The passenger windows and doors are noticeable a bit too big and appear therefore too high. The corners of the front windows appear a little too unround than in reality. The little "tip of the nose" is also way too small and below the actual tip. And the front lights appear a little too big.

Don't get me wrong: It is a beautiful model and maybe I am too nit-picky because it is my favourite train. So I will get this train anyway. But how do you see this? Did you notice these differences? Do they bother you?

The munich Version does as it probably was modified for the 8th generation? (not sure if its 8 or 7 generation).
LZB gets actively used in Munich (as far as i know), but the RMV network doesnt use it.
Same upcoming 423 Update as the RMV 423 normaly dont have LZB, compared to what we have in game.
