Hi, I have problem with this DMU being dead on throttle. It happens to me mostly on Maintalbahn, but I have experienced it on Niddertalbahn as well. It happens in Timetable, like RE 87 Aschaffenburg Hbf to Wertheim. After setting up the cab properly, when you throttle up, it has no power and doesn’t move at all. Yes, everything is set up properly and I don’t drive with safety systems with this train. Engine Group is on, Power is on, brakes off and properly charged… You don’t hear the engine sound as well. It is infurtiating, as I am not alone, but nobody around the internet has any idea. I feel like this is bug on developers side, as the train sometimes work and sometimes doesn’t and you can’t do anything about it.
I have the same problem sometimes with the 628. I can replicate the bug by pressing the Reset Simulation Physics button. If I do that then even when it is set up correctly and I hear the sound of the engine, the train refuses to move. I also have another problem where sometimes the reverser handle becomes unusable. It seems to happen if I try to use it when the engine is still at a high RPM. Edit: Got video of it here: 00:10: Reverser gets stuck and unusable. 00:33: Train won't move, even when set up properly and the engine is working.
Hm, this is weird. I spent a lot of time on the 628 since it's my favourite, and never encountered this issue on any route. Not even once. On which platform are you running TSW? I'm using PC/Steam. You did activate the traction switch, didn't you? In the "rear" half of the train, the 928 (the one with the first class compartment), it's quite normal that you can't hear the engine, since it's located in the other half of the DMU. Perhaps that's the reason
Yes, as written, everything should be correct, including traction, brakes cut in and properly released. The implication I get from the first post is that it might be some mechanism in-game, that is not accesible and happens under some circumstamces, like the physics reset. The train is basically dead on power. When you put throttle up, there is no sound and neither the visual indication of anything working showing on the HUD. Good point with the engine sound, as I did some research if it might be SIFA and other safety systems, I got myself educated on this unit having motor coach and unmotorized one. Was probably sitting in the latter Play Station 5
Ah yes, I totally overlooked the blue PS5 box in the headline Does this problem happen everytime you try to use the 628 or only on specific services? If it's the latter, I can try some of these services myself when I'm back from work.
I drive the 628 pretty often, love her for PZB action. Never came across the mentioned issue, other than that the engine sounds vanish when you put the free camera too close to the windshield. Later on I´ll try the mentioned RE 87 service on Maintalbahn. Let's see if I can reproduce the problem on PS5.
So, even though I didn’t want to spend much time on it, I have tried the opposite direction from the timetqble, and the train worked. I guess this issue happens, when I don’t do the startup in exact order, but will try it again and more times to be sure. What I did was, insert the direction handle, leave it on neutral. Insert brake key, cut in. Then I switch power on and put the handle in forward position. And the train moves, after closing the doors and putting throttle up! I wonder, if I really have to properly do it step by step like this. Will try again Before, I went in and turned the power on first.
Yep, that's the issue! First step should always be putting in the direction handle, since that "unlocks" the whole desk. The other actions can be done in basically any order, but the direction handle is the king of it all. I trained (no pun intended) myself to do the following procedure: -Direction handle goes in -Set the lights -Open doors -Leave cab to activate Sifa and PZB, on a hot day perhaps open some of the windows along the way -Back to cab, brake key goes in -Brake test -Direction handle to forward -Power switch on -Wait for go
