I know it is annoying, but… For about four years now, the DB BR420 has been in development, at least from what I've heard. It seems to be nearing completion, although the update for Munich is still pending. Perhaps including Augsburg could be an option, but it's important that the vehicle isn't released without a solid timetable in place. For instance, it could be made available only for the Free Roam mode, although that wouldn't be the ideal solution. However, offering some solution is better than waiting another 3-5 years for DTG to address Munich, Augsburg, or Cologne-Aachen. I understand that many players may not be familiar with how to spawn trains in Free Roam mode, but personally, I don't see that as a problem. Additionally, it would be possible to fix the routes later and then offer them at a reduced price instead of the full price, for example, €10.99 instead of €15.99. It might be a quirky idea, but it could be a solution that satisfies everyone.
Maik said in another thread that he/they/whoeverworkswiththe420 have new plans for the 420, if I recall correctly.
There is zero information about this product! What Myron here written is far from official. Very simple.... if its not on the roadmap there is no news!
Yea true But wait and see what the new roadmap brings, maybe there will be more information there. And don’t forget it is just a opinion
If it comes from the very person working on the project, it really can't get more official than that. There has been lots of changes made on this project that hasn't been mentioned in any roadmap, and that's probably for the better. Keep in mind that the X420 dates back to roadmaps from TSW2.
And you should not forget TSG is currently already working on the 218/232 and on other DE Locos./what I state here I only an option/
Yes, and that's exactly the problem... if DTG/TSG would also take care of the old projects, many players might be happier and not so annoyed.
Yeah we have seen how correct this information was..... It was hyped all over the place but still not released. And this is not the fault from Mike but from DTG so its safe to say its not on the roadmap there is no official information in this case.
Yep, and it’s a shame because HMA has so much potential it could be like the Rush hour routes with the proper work but it’ll most likely stay relatively empty forever
"No one wants to work on something that old" *knock knock* Omsi 2 devs (the community and third-party devs) would like to talk to you
What?? So you're saying we shouldn't trust the information from DTGs roadmap because it's incorrect, while dismissing everything else that isn't on the roadmap, even if it is from the creator himself... And no, it's not the fault of anyone, the information on the roadmap was at the time correct, the plans simply changed, which is natural on a project this big, this time-consuming, with many obstacles and many potential buyers with VERY different opinions.
Well, you can't compare that to Omsi.. the developers quarrelled as soon as you know and then broke up.
Yes, unfortunately... either way, I've been thinking all the time about talking to the DB about what DTG actually does here...
No that was not what i mean.... Mike was in full trust and communicate that the 420 was comming but thats history already! DTG is here the point... they made the choice to delayed this product due to missing place on the HMA.... So That means better check the roadmap and do not trust the developers on shady channels where there is noting official until DTG made the choice to give a official release plan on the the official channels!! So again... If its not on the roadmap there is nothing planed!
Are you talking about the Omsi 2 creators? Because if you do, I am talking about the Omsi 2's community & third-party devs.
Oh my mistake sorry/yes, the problem is tsw There are also several platforms Omsi only on one/i.e. if there is tsw only on pc would run your own evlt better..
To be fair, Aerosoft (not the OG creators but still) promote new DLC for Omsi all the time on Facebook. Of course it's only to up sales and revenue and is very little effort on their part, but at least they see the value in that "ancient game".
To be fair - it wasn't worked on for 4 years. TSG did a lot of other stuff in between (either as 3rd party - BR 628 - or as 2nd party - BR 103, 110, 111, Talent 1 etc.). And DTG needs to upgrade MAG, but we don't know if DTG even plans to do so.
I found a better example: Zusi. Ancient simulator, but still being worked on to this day, by the actual developer and creator himself AND the community.
This shows the concept of the game TSW is faulty at the core, when one train cannot substitute for the other. And with everything locked down and/or cooked solid by design and implementation of UE, there is no way around this impossible limitation.
Its very simple... Mike is the developer and DTG the selling partner so Mike is the creator and DTG is the one who tells when what will releasing but Mike is a strange one not only in this case but the same like he was earlier in discussion with people that has a critical note and he was frighting with them. Not really professional in my opinion. But i think he learned his lesson not to do that! Atm he is very quite. For the record its overall not professional to talk about products that isn't revealed by DTG it self but thats my own view!
That's totally okay and we understand the amount of other work he had and has done, but the issue here is with the communication. DTG just should have said "hey, there are some roadblocks Maik and us ran into that requires us to re-think the project from start to end, so we are going to halt development indefinitely, and we cannot guarantee that it will resume anytime in the future. additionally, we are removing it from the roadmap until we are really sure that the development of the project can and will continue" and everyone would be fine with it
So in my opinion, DTG should be held more responsible. I mean, if I were the license partners of DTG and see that they put so little effort into all this, then I would simply not give it a license anymore or would simply really order things to do updates/As it has been around this game for years now, it is simply not a long-term solution. If you just publish everything and then say xxx it.
Yes and no - yes, the core/base of TSW really is a mess, there is so much wrong with it - but it's too long and complicated to go into detail. Now here's the thing - UE can and absolutely does support modding from the start, it's known to be mod friendly. The issue here is that DTG is not really fine with modding at all, as they said multiple times themselves, they do not really support the development of mods for TSW. Now there are multiple reasons for it, I think one reason was from Matt, which was about licensing from rail companies and others. The other reasons (I think) is losing profit from third-party devs, DLCs and so on.
Sorry , but no. There is no law that DTG has to tell me that and how even could the know what i'm aiming for and what the product exactly will be at the end. No no. It's on me, the developer of an add-on to know these things or figure it out by myself. I missed that in the earlier stages of the 420 development. So, totally my fault. No need to blame DTG at all for anything about the 420. As already said, there is a new plan for that train (that is definitely not nearly finished as some might to know better than me). The Munich version will stay in the pack anyways, for players that want to use it on MAG on their own "risk". Nothing more to tell yet about that DLC. Nothing i am working on at the moment.
If you look into the last Roadmap it's the 101 Expert loco plus IC cabcar and my personal favorite the 218 as long 232 arrives.
So personally, I'm most looking forward to the 218/the 101 and the control waggon are well not exactly interesting to me/but the question was about what it's like to work for DTG/is now the working atmosphere of the pressure the load, etc.
That's right...but it's still planned/but I also have to get rid of something about it. I find it unnecessary somehow that we get two big diesels at once/especially because we don't even have real diesel routes.
Checking the roadmap, it has been on the roadmap for 1261 days. For reference, 1349 days passed between TSW1 being released and this entry being added to the roadmap. The question now is which will come first? The DB BR 420 or GTA 6?
This goes far beyond the 420, content that is abandonware, filled with bugs and in a terrible state (like MAG) is still up on sale years later, for full price, THAT is the real issue. The "new" route, whatever that is, will also be abandonware, either when the route itself is old enough or when TSW69 comes out with dynamic reflections or something (that won't work properly) effectively making the route obsolete anyway. Of course that isn't a "law", but proper communication that goes both ways is the key to success and happy customers, that's why SCS and Giants has 100x more active players (literally) yet doesn't have multiple "enough is enough" threads, one of them reaching 100 pages, and a general borderline battlefield on their official forums. I *can* rage at my customers on the forums, but that way I'd lose respect, and that's exactly what has happened here, unfortunately.
Sarcasm im a valid tool to express your unhappiness. I'm fine with that. Does not change anything though.
Well, I'll say so be glad that it's still so nice too good here, I personally only know it differently/but I say perfection takes time. Only when it comes from TSG, there is nothing else to expect than perfection.
I think it is not so important, that the development of the 420 has to wait. Sure we don't have german vintage EMU's. But o. The other side we have a lot actual german EMU's. I definitely support TSG's decision to prioritize the 218. Because with the 218 we will have the first mainline diesel loco for Germany, that we missed so much.
True, the 218 is a game changer. I’m incredibly excited that we’re not only getting her, but that she’s also so close based on the roadmap.
Preferring DB 218 is a good idea. If I could suggest her home DLC, RSN or timetable services would be ideal.
Really disappointing to hear that DTG are not planning to fix Munich - Augsburg. With some TLC it could be a nice, busy route. I would give my left kidney to see that route kitted out with a `Joethefish` timetable. My only hope is that one day they will want to create a Munich - Rosenheim route (just like they did on Train Sim Classic) and that will inspire someone to fix up the Munich area into a workable state.
if that would be a consideration I'd like to know as soon as they want to exend Salzburg - Rosenheim to München. as I already have the timetable research in for most of that. I'm willing to give it to one of their timetable editors to lighten the workload. would mean more drivable Railjet services
What I‘m wondering on is why TSG doesn’t make a few minor changes to make the 420 fit for SKA and bring it in there? Maybe DTG could make SKA TOD4 and bring in the new timetable then?
