Looking at the Steam Summer Sale, I'm going to get a U S route. I'm torn between HSC and Harlem ( the two I don't yet have). Any advice? I really wish there was a US loco to buy, but haven't seen one of those in sooooo long.
Hsc is a nice route with issues. Gevo sounds are bad (sounds like a gevo, but very muddy, loud as heck, horn sounds not good) so there's a sound mod you can download. Brakes aren't the sherman Hill brakes so you don't bail off. Which means you can apply all 3 brakes and they'll all apply which is unrealistic. Braking isn't good either especially if going downhill and applying dynamics and stuff. The train likes to lurch back and forth so you'll get speed oscillation. When you apply dynamics, it's like an all apply or nothing. You don't get like the gradual increase or decrease in brake pressure and stuff. Also braking pressure is inconsistent based on what I've read in forums. Sherman Hill is superior in terms of braking physics. Loco sounds cut out if you go to rear camera and you have to restart to get sounds back. There are a few red light bugs. It's a nice freight route but with issues. Harlem on the other hand is brought down by numerous red light issues so many services are unplayable. Sounds are good and there's a lot of traffic at gct. Much better than lirr but a lot of issues.
But yea, they are both decent routes. Depends on what you like tbh, passenger or freight. If you like variety and passenger, then harlem has it. If you like freight, then hsc is the choice but as I mentioned, it has its issues.
