Is it possible to delete dlc for good even you own them? I want to delete some of my pro dlc(Bossman locos and a few others). I do not have the patience to read the manual so I want to delete them for good even that I own them.
It depends what you mean be delete. Do you mean uninstall or obliterate them from your account as if you never bought them? If you bought them through Steam you can uninstall them using the manage my DLC panel. There's also a way of permanently removing them from your account, but I've never tried that. If you bought them direct you'd be best asking the supplier to remove them from your account. Yes, the Bossman locos can have a long learning time if you want to use all their features, but don't forget there's a driver assist function that automates most of the pro functionality,
If you bought them thru Steam, and I'm not expecting otherwise, just go in to your Steam Client > Library Right Click on Train Simulator and click Properties then DLC Find what to want to remove and just Untick the box next to it. Anything that came with that DLC will now be unplayable If you wish to completely remove the item find where the folder is and delete it. Because you purchased it thru Steam you never lose it and it could be reinstalled at anytime in the future
I want them removed from the account so if I buy a new computer they won't be installed. Now I have some of them unticked.
If you buy a new computer anything not ticked won't be installed. The are never removed from your account - you just don't have to have them on your computer.
Not everybody likes that. One might as well run random scenarios, quick drives. I'm not a huge fan of certain learning curves either. It's like having a Mahjongg game but you have to manually place the tiles first. Yes, that would be a simulator. No, that wouldn't be always fun. You might regret it, though. They might be also excellent for AI use, and maybe the rolling stock. Last time I installed TS from scratch it did try to install absolutely everything. It also auto-installed every DLC on PC #2 that I purchased on PC #1, so to keep it lean I always had to quickly pause and untick things. Worse, I couldn't pause until picked up, because it was gray. Migrating an existing installation, most importantly the appmanifest which has a DisabledDLC value in it, is a different story.
You can permanently delete anything you wish from Steam. Be it the base game or DLC, i did it with TSW2. And some other none train games, i was tired of. They are physically removed from your Steam account and if you change your mind. Then you have to re-purchase them.
There is a difference between deleting a Game - like I did with TSW2020 - and deleting DLC for a Game. When I streamlined my collection I removed most of my US DLC by unticking it and then deleting the Routes and Assets. Then I found I needed a couple of these routes as they are used in some Freeware Routes I have So I just re-ticked the boxes in Manage my DLC and Steam just downloaded fresh copies WITHOUT having to buy anything again.
Nope buddy, i had the DLC removed PERMANENTLY from my Steam account as well. I had the DLC removed before the base game.
Ok - as you seem to know how to remove DLC, like a route, from your Steam Account please enlighten us. As far as I was told it could not be done.
I would never recommend permenantly removing. By all means untick, but once it is gone it is gone. Yes the BMG locomotives are tricky, but they are now my favourites. The manuals aren't overly helpful learning to drive. I watched a few YouTube videos to help me - the official BMG video for the Merchant Navies have helped massively. Bizarrely LazerJet (a Youtuber who specialises in races and crashes) did a video that I found really helpful for the Black Five...
Neither here or there. The OP asked if he could remove his Steam items permanently. I replied yes you can, as i have experience of doing it. Then other members post, do this do that. But that is not what he asked. Just muddies the waters for the OP
I'm merely questioning the need to. I wouldn't advise it because you may change your mind in the future. Unlike physical stuff, virtual stuff doesn't take up space and thus there is no need to permanently lose something that has cost you good money. And before you say it takes up space on your computer, it doesn't need to. I have plenty of stuff (usually games gifted to me) that I have had unticked for years on Steam and they never once tried installing when I replaced my PC in 2020 nor do they take up my PC's memory.
So basically you complain about somebody's reply stating it was not what was asked But without bothering to answer the question that was directed at You?
Oh it's very much here and there, this is a discussion forum, if a subject raises and inspires a discussion and is relevant to the original topic then have at it. How exactly does it muddy the water for the OP? This thread has 15 replies (including this one) hardly a case of trudging through the entire database to find your "Yes you can I've done it" reply is it? Also you haven't even explained HOW you do it (even though you were directly asked by Peter 749006), at this point I don't even care about the why, pour a gallon of petrol over your HDD and light it for all I care.. I very much agree with UP13 on this one!
IKB I don't think that is how it works - once you have purchased an item from steam it is permanently linked to your steam account - even if you untick the DLC in your account it is still yours to reload at any later date. Can you give us an exact example of where this has happened to you? I have steam (TS20XX. Mudrunner, FSX) purchases from 2012 (not installed at present on my PC) and they are still in my account. Steam subscriptions will be deleted if you do not renew the subscription. Workshop items can also be removed permanently! Read this: https://store.steampowered.com/eula/39140_eula IMO it is misinformation that 'muddies the water'.
Trainsimplayer, it almost sounds like you had a ‘bad experience’ with some pro train! I’m inclined to agree to just untick and uninstall, as you never know what the future holds: you might fancy a new challenge! More fun to learn the idiosyncrasies of each train, than to to drive as though they’re all the same.
What's the problem with unticking? You get your HD space back and the DLC doesn't appear in the game. Interesting how this thread exploded. Saw a thread on Steam forums about a guy wanting a refund for a DLC he once bought just to buy it again when it's on sale, kept on whining instead of reading the terms and conditions before complaining. Had a hard laugh...
Not the problem with unticking but IKB seems to think that you can remove items from your Steam Account - but he does not wish to say how.
