After Looking at the locations for new Routes I think this would be an outstanding route as it has it all. Plenty of freight Services, Plenty of passenger services (local and express) and also a Location for Loco Scrapping (37 ROG or Class 66 DB required) so we can drag the old BR MKI and MKII coaches, Old 37,s (tees valley) and Class 142 (Blackpool) (2 sets dragged by 1 running 142) also Class 20’s and 47’s and HST power cars have also been sent there so basically the more DLC you have the better the experience you can have and as the schedule goes on (DLC Permitting) the fuller the yard will become (gaps left in yard where missing DLC stock would be) Also this route would include Class 220 voyager XC livery and a reskin of the upcoming class 170 to XC and reskin class 158 to Northern Also the barrier wagons would be helpful for 66’s and 37’s to couple to the HST units and coaches
Would love to see the 220. Wonder if they could also include the 221 variant? A bit like how we have the 801/1 and 801/2. There aren't many differences between the two as far as I know. The 221 has a different bogie design to allow tilting, but that is disabled on XC sets anyway. I'm sure someone who is more familiar with the loco will be along soon to tell me about the differences - I'm genuinely interested to know to gauge how likely we are to see both.
The 220 is 4 cars. The 221 is 4 or 5 cars, comparable to the Azuma, where the 801/1 is 9 cars and the 801/2 is five. That's the only difference between the 220 and 221 (unless there's something I missed).
This would be a great route to get some voyagers into the game. I am assuming the Northern 158 will be used in place of a 195 on lincoln/nottingham services from meadowhall to sheffield or chesterfield on a nottingham service and Adwick to Sheffield with AI around Doncaster (Donny to hull, Donny to scunthorpe etc) This would be AI only around Derby, a northern 170 for the sheffield to scarborough services would work though. Overall though a great route if it came out with a meridian
Is the meridian the one that looks kind of similar to the Voyager Operated by EMR I’m not good with modern passenger trains I like my freight services too much hence why I’m pushing for some quiet branch lines so Freight can hopefully be king on a route
I like this suggestion. Would give a good run for the 222 and 220/221 and provide plenty of layers. With the upcoming 170 release and (another) 158, Sheffield would be one of the busiest stations outside London. My only issue would be is the limited amount of 220/221 services as only a few run via Doncaster as the majority tend to go via Leeds. Also the fact that the run between Derby and Sheffield would be around 30 minutes, and through to Doncaster would be less then an hour means it might be abit A-B for a lot of people. Definitely a suggestion that could be built on. I’d wonder if it could be extended to Nottingham as then you can include the Northern services and the EMR service from Liverpool, to name just a few.
Yeah well I think this route would be great for the layers and maybes get people to want to buy the old DLC if they did something new with it, For instance Scrapping them I need to have a look into it as maybe the Kingsbury line may be a decent one too with it having an Oil Terminal right next door and Another one with an awkward shunt to get into it Players won’t be used to reversing on the mainline and holding the Timetable up tremendously if they miss there booked slot as I know both of these yards are known for causing delays if the driver isn’t fast enough (although for the shunt HUD on would probably be required as in real life the Network Rail Shunter usually calls out how far is left to travel)
Well I’ve not seen many runs that actually last more than an hour unless it’s Freight Services that are getting put into passing loops. DTG and the developers are limited to what they can Make a Game Platform Load as all the AI services have to be on the track for the whole route. Also hopefully 2 part services will exist soon for example when a driver takes a train to 1 station then waits for another train to pull in then brings that back to where they started would be a pretty cool idea instead of having to go to the menu breaking the immersion and find a suitable return.
Actually The Nottingham Idea Would be Perfect as it would get rid of the Linearity of the the line that everyone Complains about.
Guys Could everyone Like the Top post if you would like to see this Route as most likes will show everyone is interested.
I think the only obstacle you’ll have is the licensing for CrossCountry. They’ve always been notoriously hard to deal with when it comes to attain the licensing - which at the moment, DTG don’t have. I think as a core offer, it should be the class 222 which can layer on to MML, class 158 for the Adwick runs, class 170 for Scarborough and Hull services.
As for the XC voyagers. Maybe have them as debranded units that would get around the licensing problem. But the 222 is more logical hence being a home based MML unit.
I wonder why cross country don’t want there brand in the game? It should be an honour to be asked to be featured in the game
Well they could slap a DTG logo on the sides. I don't think the livery is completely copyrighted otherwise ex-operator liveries on new TOC's would be disallowed.
We were talking about if they brought an unbranded look a like I’m trying to think because they did it a few times in TS Classic
Still depends on the license as I would presume even without branding the livery itself would need a license. Hopefully that isn't the case but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Any licensing relating to a defunct TOC would be in the hands of the DfT, who apparently have no problems with licensing.
I doubt they would. Throughout TSW, I don’t think they’ve ever gone down the path of introducing a train without branding in some form or another.
I know but Crosscountry has operated the service for the past 17 years and will probably hold it for the foreseeable. I mean one way could be using Virgin Crosscountry’s livery and dating it to the mid 2000s but I don’t think it fits in with Dovetail’s recent trend of having routes set in the present day. Mind you, DTG have recently got the licensing for the Overground which Arriva operates so can be cautiously optimistic.
