Hi everyone, I´m working on a route project which want to close the saxony triangle Dresden-Chemnitz and Dresden-Riesa by connecting Chemnitz to Riesa directly. The route is not a big highlight in terms of cars and traffic - normally there is only RB 45 Chemnitz-Riesa-(Elsterwerda) with Alstom Coradia Continental and Chemnitz Citybahn C14 to Mittweida with Stadler Citylink and some cargo trains. Find more about the real life route here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riesa–Chemnitz_railway https://www.mitteldeutsche-regiobahn.de/de/ueber-uns/fahrzeugpark-der-mitteldeutschen-regiobahn https://www.city-bahn.de/ueber-uns/fahrzeuge/citylink-zweisystemfahrzeug/ To be clear: I have no plans for train development, I´ve got no idea how to do this All is done as a hobby and in my rare sparetime, don´t ask for a timeline.
Some Tracks have been laid down, next step will be to adjust the heights and super elevation along the route. Both main stations at the ends are missing, I hope there will be a way to import them. Otherwise I have to recreate them.
Nice and let me guess you read my forum post on it. DLC loco the Deutsche Reichsbahn Baureihe 118 Dicke Babelsbergerin if you can make it. 1440 can layer to RRO HRR despite the wrong paint.
Nice to see your announcement! driverwoods#1787 and me we already knew from your plan, but it's nice to see that you already came that far! Can I ask you a question? Do you have a personal connection to the route or is just because you enjoyed the Dresden-Riesa and Dresden-Chemnitz DLCs so much? I personally go through all the problems and learning to hopefully recreate the route of my childhood and with it a piece of myself. What about you? I'm just curious. Same. I have 3 possible new trains to create on my route, but I would never trust myself to create a loco on my own. That is a completely different challenge which I don't really have fun to explore. It's already enough complicated to create a route. I probably want to create a small timetable. Maybe if I gained experience with it and I got to the point where this is relevant, I can help you out with it. I actually use a bit different technique yet. Laying all the tracks as they should be. Con: Very slow process. Pro: You already can use the tracks with full flexibility to the point you created. For one of the routes I want to create, there is already the terminal station in TSW as well (Koblenz). I am also very interested how you can import map parts from DTG maps into your own route. Never heard anyone so far talking about it more deeper, but I think I remember Matt mentioned it in one stream just very roughly. Still wonder about how that will be possible.
For me it was actually enjoying both Nahverkehr Dresden & Tharandter Rampe Dresden Hbf Chemnitz Werdau Gutenfürst Hof Bamberg Nürnberg routes and using their Rolling Stock on Wunderline Bremen Oldenburg Leer(Ostf) Groningen route. The next logical step is actually filling in the gap between the two which is why I came out with the Riesa Döbeln Chemnitz Hbf route suggestion.
I live in Freiberg (Sachs) , I´m often in Chemnitz and during my studies I took the train (612 with NeiTec and Dostos, sometimes the old DDR ones without any air conditioning) to Dresden every day. So, of course, it is logical to me to close the connection between Chemnitz and Riesa. One of my favourites would also be Chemnitz to Leipzig via Geithain, a most of the distance single track Diesel route, also with 612 at 160km/h full speed in the past. But this is for another project...
After having the tracks between Chemnitz and Riesa complete, it was time to do the super elevation along the route. The next step was cutting all curves and straights into ~150 meter pieces and then adjust the node heights. After this, I began to create vertical easements to have a smoooooth driving experience (and this cuts the track into even more pieces LOL). And to have some variety, I also did a first test on river splines (floating from the left to right in the picture) near Waldheim (station and flying tracks in the background)
Nice and was this seen on the 143 Dosto video I linked to this proposal. When Completed I can download it and place it directly onto the TSW 4 folder inside Xbox Ganes. That's how it's done for us Microsoft store PC version players
I´m sorry, no. DTG has no updates to the editor nor any new tutorials... (and I´m busy IRL at the moment)
I can understand you completely. The amount of work for a route project is much. If you don't have the time to work on it regularly, it's almost possible to see the finish line at some point. Also I'm disappointed too, how less DTG seems to care about bringing us new tutorials and tips to create content or updating/improving the Editor at the moment. Nonetheless, I didn’t give up my hope yet. They also had christmas vacations to everything still is a bit off at the moment. But I have no understanding if we will see no new ones in the next months. I hope you don't give up your project completely. But even if you would, I can relate to it. What was your last step in the production process? How far did your route evolved until yet?
After laying all tracks in correct xy direction (top view), I tried to adjust the heights of the tracks (z), just to realize that the editor shows sometimes some useful tips but often not. I think this is a bug which need to be fixed. Also some tests with speed signs failed. I assume the font material is not working, as all materials don´t.
If you mean that the height node informations (and even the nodes themselves don't show up), I encountered this as well. It's definitely a bug. Similar things happen also with the other modes and submodes of Network Edit mode. These should be fixed asap. What I usually do to get over these kind of bugs that I switch between modes to reset and initiate them new. If this does not work, I'm going to save the project restart the Editor. And if this doesn’t work, I'm going to another section of route building and see if the functions reset after some time. The broken functions can be really annoying, but as long as it's going to work again after a couple of time it's okay for me. The most problematic thing for me is if an error persists which crashes the Editor and keeps me off of continuing with my route overall. So happened to me with some signals of the Niddertalbahn DLC lieing in the EuropeanContenPack, which when I selected them caused the Editor to crash. The only resolution was moving the origin folders, so that the Editor lost the direct references to the malfunctional signals and I finally was able to delete the references to the signals then. Maybe the track rules you created caused an issue with the speed signs? Do you mean a bug here or that you can't apply any texture to the terrain by using materials?
