Probably a stupid question but some dlc's have two versions for download in the playstation store. One often times bigger than the other, example The Great Western Express shows two different add-ons. When I choose the bigger in size it downloads 3 different pieces of content ( TSW TSW2 and TSW3 on my SSD dedicated storage for PS4 content plus PS5 storage) and the other add-on downloads to both as well but based on the icons only downloads stuff for TSW2 and TSW3. Do I need all the extra downloaded stuff (SSD storage for PS4 content). I'm confused as to what I really need do I need to have content for PS4 and PS5 downloaded at the sane time?
It’s a ‘feature’ of ps5 to do this if you’ve ever had the ps4 version of tsw2 on your ps5 or ps4. You can cancel the unneeded download as it’s queued. It should say which version is for which console as its downloading. When I moved to tsw3 as I had never had it downloaded to ps4 or the ps4 version on the ps5, I no longer have this problem.
If I understand what you said correctly I can cancel the queued PS4 downloads consisting of TSW2020 and TSW2 and only download the PS5 version of the route because that's all I would need?
I’ve never had the PS4 version of TSW2 or TSW3 on my PS5 but it still starts downloads for the PS4 versions and I have to cancel them manually. You do only need to download the version you want and can cancel the download of any other versions or delete them from your storage if necessary. So if you are only after the PS5 TSW3 version of the DLC all others are not required.
Just another ridiculous quirk of the PS5 that Sony mind numbingly hasn’t fixed for over 2 years. It always happens if you download a DLC from the store. The system will download the PS4 and PS5 version, even if you don’t have the PS4 game installed and needlessly waste your storage with redundant DLC. The best way is just avoid downloading from PS store. Instead go to the TSW icon on the Home Screen, hit the options button on your controller to bring up the menu, then select “manage game content”. That will give you a list of all your DLC and you can install it from there. That will do it so only PS5 version gets downloaded.
Not all DLC show up here tho at least for me, I have to download it first before it shows up under manage content so I have to start downloading then cancel and delete the older versions (TSW2020 and TSW2).
