The e-mail I'm currently registered with at DTG is getting deactivated in January. Is there a way to have the e-mail associated with my profile changed, or do I need to re-register?
You have to create a new account as DTG sees fit if you change your email address you have to create a new account. IMO a stupid way to do things. You can see who I previously was in my signature as I had to change my email address also.
Make sure you get a Gmail account or something so you don't get any spam. My previous email account was a .co.nz one and I was getting about 12 spam emails a day. I have had a Gmail account since about July/August. You will also have to login in to TSC with your new address the first time you run it as well.
Why is it being deactivated? If you ask nicely they might change your email, but that's a big might. MIGHT See?
He is referring to his own email address with his ISP. Lots of ISPs are now not having email accounts for their customers as they attract lots of spam and much prefer you to use something like Gmail.
Exactly this. (I already have a gmail account and has been using that as my "daily driver" for the past year and a half already, but some websites, like this one, I'm still signed up with the ISP one)
In that case re-registering is your only option unfortunately. Hopefully in the future the ability to change email addresses is added.
This is a reply I got from DTG support on Wednesday the 13th of July 2022 about changing my email address. The answer is rather stupid I must admit. When I changed my email address on about 50 sites I had no issues except with DTG. Changing your email address can have a substantial impact on a number of integrated services that rely on your email address to identify you and keep your account secure. We are, therefore, not able to support making changes to your email address and recommend you create a new account if you wish to use an alternative address or no longer have access to the email address you registered with. LoL they seriously wrote that? Seriously, I had the email that's now getting deactivated associated with 5-6 different mailing lists, I switched it over to the gmail one with no issue whatsoever...
Psssst, It's coz they don't know how to.... Shush, don't tell anyone.. They do know how to blow smoke up peoples.... (ending this sentence here because I'm being "kept an eye on".. )
You actually have to change it twice for the forums and for support. I went into support yesterday and had to log in with my old email address which I haven't changed yet.
