My setup is a few years old: i7-10700F cpu, 16gb ram, RTX 2060 driver. TSW5 is running between 45-50 fps but there’s a lot of freezing and frame drops. I think it’s worse than TSW4 was. Do I need to spend $ on a better graphics card? Or is there a solution somewhere in the settings?

Running Ryzen 3600,2070 super,32 gig of ram, sound card and separate SSD for game, Windows 10 on M2 ,B450m motherboard,,Dx11 default for tsw5
I've been watching afterburner each time I've run tsw5.Six years old, planned new build 2025

    80% GPU,98% CPU
Ram varies with route your running.
12 to 16.5 gig; possible it's tripping on ram.
It writes then reads from virtual ram off the hard drive if you run out of ram,I think this is the case.
I usually run a cache run in free roam,it's a bit more stable, with no a.i. traffic to add to the stutters.
Lowest 35 at Frankfurt, usually staying high 50's set 62.
    Generally staying at 60.
Taa on.medium everything except draw distance high, texture high.
Not an experton this sort of thing, the best option is another matching stick of 16 GB ram.
    Cheapest option.

I forgot to mention 5 runs better than 4 for me.
Matt from DTG mentioned it's mostly CPU dependant because of a.i.and physics somewhere else on the forum.
Your 2060 still on recommended system
Your CPU is 4 core 8 thread? Fast I'm assuming?
Sorry always gone amd don't know Intel.

I'm experiencing different results on a somewhat similar setup than yours, dean stansfield: Ryzen 3600, 3060ti, 32gb ram, Win11 and the game also runs from SSD. Afterburner gives me an average cpu load of 60% on Frankfurt, and gpu stays at around 40-45%, yet I cannot get past 40-45FPS.. I've had multiple full runs for cache, so I have less stutters than the 1st time, but still .. Btw, same graphics settings as yours..
I don't understand where the bottleneck is. On older routes, with similar cpu/gpu load, I can get to the fps limit and it stays there.. shouldn't it be able to fully load cpu or gpu in order to get to the limit (and die trying, at some point)? Instead of limiting it at 40 with some hw left to use?..

    Not familiar with windows 11.
I disabled Xbox app in startup
And made sure windows is running maximum performance for Almost nothing running in the background.
Motherboard chipset drivers?; how long ago did you update them?
    Window's asked for firewall exception.
I used to over clock the CPU; Tsw doesn't seem to like that.Motherboard chipset handles throttling okay for me.
Although you're GPU is quicker;DX12 shunts over more work to the GPU.
    -DX12 set in steam?
I don't use it because my system stutters with the setting.
I don't touch the ini settings or use any mods
. Can't understand the frame rate with your system.
Let's hope someone with better knowledge of Win11 see's this.

You can load your GPU by turning off taa and increasing screen percentage to 150 or higher.
After you've done a timetable quit out and see the result in afterburner
I've tried it; stutters because Dx11 CPU dependant and maxes CPU.
DX 12 shunts over more to GPU.
Also make sure in device manager only one sound source is active.
I've disabled everything except my creative sound card.
