I just bought the game on Steam after playing it on Game Pass because it's getting dropped from GamePass.

When I play the MS, where I am level 49, I can't reel the fish in fast enough at Gillham's to catch everything that bites.

On Steam, with the bonus TP from the deluxe edition, I was able to get the same rig (80-lb, Royal Marine 18 mm boilies, #2 hook) but have to use the base rod.
Literally nothing has bit at Gillham's in an hour. I am watching the fish swim around my hooks, not taking the bait.

I can't imagine the rod is solely to blame. Do the fish bite more when you are higher level? Why am I hauling fish out constantly on MS, and getting no bites at all on Steam?

Yeah. This is really awful. I did finally get a few bites on Steam and am running identical gear in both version, same peg, same time of day.

On MS, an average of one bite per four minutes. Average weight a bit over 100 lbs. no common carp.

on Steam, one bite every 25 minutes. Largest fish 92 lbs. Siamese carp. Other bites were two common carp.

on MS, Gillham’s in fun. On Steam, it’s terrible. Why is there a difference?!

from my experience i doubt thats the case, ive found that on the bass side of the game some set ups catch on 1 day and will be totally useless on other days. sometimes bass just will not bite at all and are being shy so youll have to drop the line strength dangerously low to induce takes and even then you still have to find the type of lure they will go for.
same type of thing happened to me on gigantica, fished it countless times and always had bites using big tigernuts, been times when they just wont bite on them, it took 3 fishing trip resets =60mins in career mode to finally figure out that using activ8 would give me bites right away.
il bet if you try using that set up today youll have different result, also are you spodding swim? for me when bites are slow spodding seems to induce bites.
i think the game rotates ineffective bait and setup combos randomly for every trip to a lake.
im guessing money is tight if just starting over so experementing with bait setup combos may not be easy, but when nothing seems to be working at all last resort of going lighter line seems to work for me, say going from 70lb to 50lb line.
but have another go today with your usual setup, im sure yuoll have different result.
i might be playing later give me a shout if you want to do a multiplayr test as im high level, we could try same baits and set up and see if i get more bites than your lower lvl accout.
my GT is KingNigelFarage on xbl for PC. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve a total of two hours across three separate sessions. I head-to-headed it against my GamePass install with identical gear and time/weather settings.

I’m convinced it’s a bug, because nothing is biting on Korda dumbbells, smelt heads or pop up tiger nuts, either, all baits I have phenomenal success with in GamePass.

    Other lakes are not impacted.

I put in a support ticket.

big size SCB boilies and scb in spod works well for me.
only reason i know the tigers and fishheads didnt work as they were things i used first time there and used them as thought they worked, both didnt catch all session and having no clue what those carp actually eat, i bought the scb as sounded fishmealy and all my other big baits on account were sweet dairy type bait.

Again, I’ve fished this lake a dozen hours in GamePass. It’s not simply that the fish don’t bite. It’s that the lakes are behaving manifestly differently on the two installs. That indicates a bug issue.

The plot thickens. The lake behaves as expected in online tournament mode.

ah sorry, i got it wrong way round in my head, i thought the issue was with the win10 version, not the steam one.
have you tried steam forums? as they usually have alot more posts reporting issues so you can search if others have same issue, not that it will help get fixed any quicker though, unfortunitely

also, i know water temp has big effect on bass fishing, maybe the different temps and that alters fish behavior?
