Recently from the new London Overground stream, there is a feature clearly presented and stated of the automatic closing doors on the class 710. As a feature this is brilliant and it's good for more realism. As Matt has said this is a real feature on trains and it's amazing to see it in game. But, I have mentioned this in the coming soon thread but I'm putting more into a suggestion. So I'm hoping this gets recognised and fixed within the London Overground add on and also gets noted for future routes, if not, it's not the end of the world I'll still be happy with it. To make this more easier I'm breaking this next part into sections: The Problem The main problem is that the doors are interlocking when they automatically close, unlike real life when they close after a certain amount of seconds and are not interlocked until the driver closes the doors via the cab as usual. And I fell like the main issue is that the doors close and it completes the "Lock Doors" objective. Solution I hope to explain the solution well, spoiler alert I am bad at explaining, anyways here's the suggestion: Driver opens their doors and the doors all open like they do already in game. After 40-45 seconds (I think it is) for the doors to start closing, they'll automatically close and remain unlocked with the open door buttons on the outside and inside of the train lit green. If the train is still in this position whilst waiting for departure and a passenger wishes to board the with the doors closed but not interlocked, then that NPC in game passenger walks up to their desired door, presses the button and it opens that door. Lets say for now 5 doors got opened by the NPC passengers at different times, each door will have its 40-45 second countdown until they automatically shut again if the train is still at a stand still. And this process I've just explained gets repeated until.... (for explanation purposes I'm going to use an example here) the driver has now got a green signal having been sat at a red at South Tottenham so they can now depart. 1 door is open out of all the doors. The driver checks to see if the platform is clear for departure and then presses the close doors button in his/her cab. That one door that is open then does the standard practise of beeping and closing as normal but the other 7 doors that were unlocked but shut now, they do not display a green light around any of the open door buttons now and beep until interlocked. I know I explained that poorly but in this video there is more references to what I was trying to explain(timestamps are 1:05 1:24 4:48): Which you can see in the video that at the terminus, the doors are closed but still able to be opened. In conclusion I hope this gets noticed. It's not really anything game breaking but it's something that could improve the feature a lot! But not biggy if this doesn't happen.
You did well enough at pointing out the issue, but time will tell if this is corrected, if not Will it create a traction lock because the doors are not completely closed and locked, then again are the mindless automatons smart enough to open the doors, even if they just walk into the said door like they always do?
That is true haha, in all fairness I tried to point out one way they could fix it, and if this was to be discussed within the DTG team, there are many minds to think of better ways they could implement it. I was just trying to go for the realistic route here but I understand with a lot of the things I suggested it can and will cause bugs and many unneeded problems, but if DTG wish to implement the feature more, they can always know how the community feels about it. But I love the feature anyways, I'm not moaning about it, I'm fine with it just thought it might of needed a few touches here and there
This is all very true, I do understand where you are coming from, that is just what we all look for, the immersion and the realism that goes with driving a train. It would be nice to have all of this worked out.
