British friends could tell me what would be that set of platforms located between Rochester and Chatham stations in SEHS.
It looks like a deactivated station or something, I've always had this doubt.

That was the old Rochester station. It was closed and a new one built, just a few years ago I believe. What the reason was I know not, however.

I’m not a British friend, but I believe that’s the old Rochester station. I think a new one was simply built to allow longer trains?

It was the same in the TS version of Chatham/Medway (set in 2016) whereas the TS SEHS only had the old station (as I think it was set in 2012)

"In December 2015 a new station on Corporation Street opened 500 metres (1,600 ft) to the west of the original station which it replaced. It is now closer to the town centre and its historic buildings"

It also opened to allow for a larger car park I believe, as the Car Park at the old station was unfeasibly small

Also the old Rochester station could only accommodate 10 car trains where's the new one can take 12 car trains.

The old rochester station had four platforms set in two islands, this was opened in 1892 and was set back from the main high street a few hundred yards from a busy road junction. Due to the layout of the track, which is set on brick arches or embankments for most of the trip from the Medway Bridge, through both old and new Rochester stations up to just before Chatham tunnel, it wasn't possible to extend the existing platforms beyond the 10 car capacity that they had

They decided to build the new station in it's current location to be above a major outdoor car park, as well as adjacent to several new housing developments, making the station more central to Rochester town rather than the old location which was "off to the side" and much closer to Chatham than it is now, it also increased the number of bus routes that are much more easily accessible from the new location. The new station opened in December 2015.

The new station has three 12 car platforms with the single platform being London bound, the southern side of the island being coastbound (out of London) and the northern side of the island being used mainly for trains terminating at Rochester, although some "through trains" do stop here to allow faster trains to go through on P2
