Dovetail Game Support Pettiness On Full Display

So as many of you know for whatever reason Dovetail Games refuses to let us users change our email address on the premise of having a substantial impact on services that use it, including keeping our accounts secure and identity purposes. This is preposterous given how N3V Games (Auran) for Trainz, PlayStation Network and Steam just to name a few major gaming platforms allow us to change the email address associated with our accounts and that isn't an issue at all. This is their statement:

Changing your email address can have a substantial impact on a number of integrated services that rely on your email address to identify you and keep your account secure. We are, therefore, not able to support making changes to your email address and recommend you create a new account if you wish to use an alternative address or no longer have access to the email address you registered with.

So I replied as such: You are completely incompetent, inept and incapable, but are really really good at making excuses so you got that going for yourself. This is a perfect response to your explanation why no one can change their email address.

So being the petulant child that they are stooped to such depths I never imagined would ever happen:

As your ticket violates our Unreasonable Behaviour Policy we are closing your ticket as is our policy to do so when a customer is behaving irrationally, is abusive or using language which we consider to be offensive.
Please note that we may share the contents of your message with Policing Authorities, alongside your account and other identifying information that we hold on our systems, should you continue with this course of action. Your contact with us is now restricted and all communications you send to us will be recorded and collected for evidence should we wish to pursue further legal action against you.
We are open to helping you if you are able to calmly explain what help you need but we will not tolerate abusive behaviour towards our staff who are trying to help you. We need to take steps to protect our staff and, if you are unable to communicate with us calmly and politely, we will undertake action to report you for any criminal offences committed and block you from accessing our Customer Support network in future.
We trust you will take the above seriously.

This is a joke and shows what kind of clowns these people are. Don't worry I've got a response for them come tomorrow.

 

You do realize this is all just about a train game ?!?!? Life is full of priorities , and computer games should not be one of them.

 

Tell that to them. Filing a false police report and taking fraudulent legal action is only gonna make me rich because I'll definitely sue them into oblivion. Them getting butthurt over a comment that's 100% accurate given their over the top response is childish at best.

The second response is basically automated / template (and I suspect the first, too).
You are correct that changing the email address should be trivial as people sometimes need to.
You are correct that the architect behind whichever solution uses the email as the ID column made a wrong choice.

I can only imagine what would happen if the US would go full ape and Google, Microsoft, etc. (the major providers) would have to separate their services (and domains). Meaning, no more Gmail.

Regarding your response, it could fly but it would definitely need massaging.
More importantly, what you should always consider is whether you achieve what you want.
I suppose you were emotional but try to behave like a psychopath. For once it's a positive thing
If this was meant to be your last transaction, sure, it's a psycho response. Let them know, let them understand. You are losing your account anyway due to the email, so let it burn, right?
However, while some cultures (families, companies) work like that, forceful aggressive negotiation, typically you want the other side to have your sympathy. Explaining why it is a big problem, what can they do, and so. It's just an email. You can write whatever: you can beg, lick, etc. Just think that it happens to you.

 

DTG runs its forum the way they want. You may disagree with their decisions, but this does not justify the email you sent them. Speaking of pettiness. You’ve got the reaction from DTG you deserve.

To threaten legal action and pursue criminal charges for that? Of all the things they get mad at that? I don't know how they do things in the UK but in America that's a big no-no. Besides I used a quote that someone on this forum made in regards to that. They said the exact same thing I can even point you to the thread where I got it from. Speaking of pettiness they're gonna get a the ultimate reaction they deserve shortly.

 

This isn't about the forum. It's about changing the email associated with your account. If they don't want to allow people to change their email then say that. Don't lie to me about the reasons why because we all know that's not true at all. They may disagree with my message or even be offended but that doesn't justify their response. Especially when what I said was nowhere close to being threatening or harassing.

Due to your response being in violation of my unprofessional behavior policy I will not be giving you people anymore of my money. This is due to you acting in an irrational or unreasonable manner using language that's abusive or what I consider to be offensive.


Just so you're aware I've logged your message for evidence and will be retaining an attorney. Your contact with me will be restricted and I'll be documenting any and all communications directed at me for evidence in case I decide to pursue further legal action against you.


I'm open to talks about whatever issues are present but will not tolerate lies, malicious prosecution, filing false police reports, frivolous lawsuits when all I want to do is change the email associated with my account. I need to protect myself at all costs. If you are unable or unwilling to engage in calm and polite discourse without resorting to unethical or unlawful behavior then I'll take action against you and Dovetail Games. Filing false and frivolous police reports is a criminal offense which can be prosecuted as misdemeanor or felony. Not only will you and your employer be subject to stiff criminal penalties but civil liabilities as well. I'll sue you for filing a false police report and seek substantial monetary and punitive damages. I trust that you take the above seriously.

 

There's nothing emotional or psychotic about my response. In fact I went easy on them.

Although creating a new account in order to change an email address may seem to be a nuclear option, it is relatively a painless procedure. All account data, profile, and posts will follow you. It is what it is.
