as much as i enjoy their games from time to time, dovetail should come up with more incentives for loyal, long time players rather than a measly 10% discount on pre-orders. and what i mean by loyal, is that you have a track record of TSW purchases for 3-4+ years. here’s what i’ve come up with:

    • loyal players should get a 20% discount on future titles of TSW or other dovetail-named games

    • discounts on older routes and locos (especially ones beyond the TSW3 era)

    • one, one time redeemable voucher to purchase a route or loco for free

    • some insider info on upcoming, unannounced routes or locos, or even other games (dependent on devs)

with these benefits, i think this would create a fun, exclusive and luxurious experience for the most loyal of fans that creates a level that not only do newer fans want to reach if they enjoy the game, but also things to heighten the experiences within TSW and create a sense of hype around it.

but what do you guys think? that’s my main question. and i hope you see this devs :)

They can't give insider info because of ndas on dtgs side and the players side. Nobody would be allowed to share anything which with millions of people will be really difficult to do and keep track of. If one person slips, that's it for everyone.

Discounts already exist on older content through sales so that likely won't happen

Hmmm. That would be nice but given that the base game is free, 20% of zero is still zero.
As far as the bundles go, which is presumably what you are referring to, they are already priced far lower than three individual routes (and the extra for premium locos if you choose the deluxe version).

I’m even considering the Special Edition as I don’t own any of the bundled routes so roughly £100 for 8 routes and 4 premium locos is a pretty good deal as far as I can see.

I really hope all those on Epic get it sorted, it really is unfair not to be able to transfer your DLC to TSW6

10% is better then nothing. I got attacked last time I suggested some people really are tight fisted with money. But you could have no discount at all?!

The going price for most new PS5/Xbox games is about £59.99, so you're getting a slightly below average price already. It's a business and not a charity to be honest, just because you've owned several titles that doesn't mean the next title owes you a huge discount, and considering you can upgrade for free your not exactly being conned or having your arm twisted behind your back.

It's true that I find 10% is a small reduction and I agree with 20% and with discounts on the older routes, I had already suggested that in another thread too but I had proposed permanent discounts to make it more affordable for new and even current players (because personally I find the prices of the routes a little expensive)
As for the other suggestions, I have no opinion on them,I'm thinking about it

Yep whenever we get a sale on Xbox, it's always the exact same routes: BCC, BML, CCL. I'm still waiting for midland mainline or Edinburgh Glasgow to be on sale but honestly I don't think they ever will be.

It's not a loyalty discount. That'd imply the discount is only offered to those of us who already own previous TSW titles.

It's a pre-order bonus, available to everyone. Existing customers and brand new ones. It has nothing to do with loyalty.

A small loyalty bonus wouldn’t go amiss but I wouldn’t expect the level of discounts talked about here.

We’ve already seen with the HSP DLC where owners of Boston Worcester received this free and I’d like to see more of the same every 6/12 months or so where owners of certain DLC get a free small gameplay pack DLC as a gift for their loyalty.

Funny enough same for Edinburgh to Glasgow, I did have it for a hour but after trying it out I found it’s not worth £30 and then I bought MML which I can fully recommend because it’s damn good

On Steam the discount is loyalty, you need to have a previous TSW on your account

Seems I was wrong. Still, I guess even a TSW5 free starter pack would qualify for the loyalty discount.

It’s mainly because other platforms don’t have anything in place for loyalty discounts

I'm sure last year Steam was the combined loyalty and pre order discount giving 20% off, but I might be mistaken. However if not, certainly not so generous this time around. It's a lot to put out at once but I guess the counter to that is you're getting 3 (well 2.5) new routes that would be £90 at new selling price, plus 3 x train DLC which would probably come in at £40 or thereabouts, so £130 of software for £58.

One of those routes is the highly iconic and much requested South Devon/Riviera Line.

And having just come from driving the BR294 in Zusi 3...

    BR294.jpg

...nice though it was, I think it will be a whole lot nicer in TSW. (Though I would like the route from Amberg to Schwandorf to run it on, please!).

Should do yes, while there will undoubtedly be some people who picked up the free version but never bought any routes, I would wager the vast majority will have picked up at least one

Blimey, I like to think of myself as not that much of a graphics snob, but never having seen snaps of Zusi I can tell you I wouldn't be buying or playing a "modern" game with what appears to my eyes to be sub-par PS1 modelling

Riviera Line highly iconic….., sadly set in the s* modern era instead of literally anything of time period

I won’t disagree on that point! The chance to thrash Peaks, Warships, Westerns and Class 119 or 120 DMU’s along the sea wall @ 1972 has evaporated as no one else will do a retro version. Best we can hope for is a DLOGW2 at some point.

Just a thought. How’s this for a loyalty reward. For those people who have been around since TSW1, we are getting a free major upgrade to GWE.

I fully agree though find a slight irony with your current choice of avatar Vern ;)

I understand why DTG went with it, you know them getting the GWR licence back but yeah it would have been far better if set in the 80s - they already have the 37, 47 and HST so we could have finally gotten a 50 but alas it's another shitty one lever modern unit :/

Now what I will say nicely is that I will get the freebie starter pack then sit tight for JT's Preston-Crewe route to drop, then I'll spend some coin. At least we are not being forced to buy the base game along with a route that we don't want, ironically if the base game came with Dawlish on it's own at a reduced rate I would buy it however as it stands I don't want to buy it bundled with another German and Yank commuter route.

I've sort of accepted now that those routes wont ever go on sale on Xbox, so I'm probably going to pick up MML in the near future as it does look like a pretty nice route. I'll probably wait for the next sale on Xbox just on the off chance that one of those routes happens to go on sale, though I'm not expecting them to.

Was actually feeling the same tbh, as a long time tsw player, i wont really benefiting from being "loyal" for so long.

Sure there is pre order discount, but for packs with content i dont really want. Yet, i will have to pay a full Route price for an extension and wont even getting new rolling stock with it, thats extra cost of course. With the Deluxe edition clocking in at 80 (!) Euros, i find it hard to justify that price. Especially when i compare this with other Games I've brought in recent times.

Are the prices for the standalone routes known yet ? I fear we will see an increase there aswell.

Deluxe edition this time has more than last time. you get 3 routes and 3 deluxe locos with all the features and also have to account for inflation. Prices are in the faq, but at the bottom. Route prices have not changed. The same price as tsw3 dlc. Loco dlcs are also the same price

I think you're asking too much. But a -5% discount for each previous TSW in your library would be delicious. Free TSW20 for the main loyalists. Okay, okay, cap at -25%, otherwise it's too rich.
