Hi guys I’m really struggling with driving the 101 with trying to get the braking right and accelerating so I can get to stops on time. Can anyone give me any tips please.
Acceleration is simply learning to gear up when you hit the Rev limit in yellow zone on dial and when coasting you would need to be in 4th gear in real life to prevent damage to the drivetrain. Braking is best done if you remember when both applying and releasing, once desired level is reached, to return to lap position to assist with any delay in more application or release being required. Start with very light application and gradually increase to reach the desired deceleration. Keep practicing and you will slowly get the hang of it and feel rewarded for having leaned it. This technique is the same for nearly all first generation BR DMUs (except classes 125 and 127 Hydraulics I believe).
