I have had this before and I copied an alternative AWS Horn and AWS Clear dav sounds and renamed them but for some reason they don't work as expected and I still have the original sounds Any suggestions please? Peter
To my ears the 68 AWS sounds are just right. Do you own the AP 68 Enhancement pack? and if so does it need re-installing?
I do have the Class 68 EP and it was recently reinstalled - but both AWS Horn and Clear are too quiet. AFAIK the 68 EP pack does not add any cab sounds as the only AWS Sounds are in the default folders. I copied the files from the 66 EP as the volume is louder. My attempts are renaming, which has worked in the past, does not work now.
Normally you would navigate through the Audio folder until in the Cab folder, then edit the according proxyxml and look for "BaseVolume" (which is logarithmic). You can easily lower too loud wipers found in other locos here. If all that doesn't work, use Audacity and boost the volume of the audio file itself. The AWS BaseVolume is already set to max (1.000000) here, with an attenuation radius of 3 metres which should be ok unless the audio source is placed in the middle of the loco. So maybe it's the placement of the audio source found in the .bin. As I've become comfortable and acknowledge that others are doing better work than I can, I'm using the AP Class 68 Enhancement Pack. As DTG are not releasing anything for TSC, I'm happy to spend my TSC budget on AP and have almost everything of their catalogue now.
What is your view of the Audio volume in the cab of the 68 EP compared with a 66 EP? Maybe too Quiet is wrong but it is too soft I'm trying to get the DTGClass68AWSWarningToneLoop.dav to sound like the 66 EP T_CAB_AWSHorn.dav
