https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/...tenwaldbahn-innsbruck-garmisch-partenkirchen/ A couple of years in the making, a complete revamp of the Mittenwaldbahn surfaced on Railsim today. The depth and detail that has gone into this, seems to be very similar to the AP Midland Mainline.... but, this one is freeware! This is the most stunning and realistic alpine route I´ve peronsaly seen in TS Classic. Have fun.
Got the requirements - thanks Tom. Though I'm experiencing almost an overkill of new stuff - you really need new DTG DLC? Not me - gimme a break. I've had to triage Assets as my 1TB RailWorks SSD is full. Had to remove some stuff to my HDD storage . MediaMarkt here I come. No scenarios - but as it is a single track route without service variety, QuickDrive/Freeroam is all you need, just enjoy the journey. Looking good.... Seems this is the "golden years" for TSC. Better than ever!
It does, however, require a shedload of freeware DLC to run. Many of which I've never heard of and I don't have the energy to find and install.
All requirements are directly linked to from the manual. The required Rodachtalbahn route is one of the best freeware routes. Everything needed is linked to, and no milk bottles here. (That's not true for most freeware routes, so they did a fine job.)
I don't need TSW anymore. Honestly. I'll keep it to update the mods for the community, but have no motivation to play it currently. It's ugly, limited and boring and full of bugs I can't fix myself And it left me frustrated and led to the ever ongoing quarrels on the forums over there - something I thought about and drew a line. TSW is not good for my mood. DTG stopping to release TSC content is a pleasure, not because I didn't like it - I can breathe again (and AP gets my money) . "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." - Ferris Bueller Lots of stuff to discover. And that massive Romanian Asset Pack finally gave me complete versions of asset folders I had around for a while, that had missing or manipulated/corrupt contents, from wherever I got these from. Now you got good looking road traffic and lots of scenery used in many freeware routes. Great to see these old routes being updated by passionate devs. This took six years! Cheers "AbsolutesChaoz" (most german devs have really strange nicknames. Nomen est Omen? Hope not!)
I still stand by that we are missing important mainline routes... but I´m planing to change that myself in the future. This is a DTG route and someone updated it. eventually people will run out of things to do, because there will ne be no more new DTG base routes to revamp. As usual, the uploader gets all the credit. This project was originaly done and worked on by the famous Thaddäus, who is the main man behind most German revamp routes. Sadly, he ended his life last year. This was his last project and AbsolutesChaoz finished it off. It´s his "last route" and released postmortem.

Oh, now you're tempting me... I think it said something to go with Innsbruck on there as well? I wonder if they took Danny's Workshop merge and modified that one. It went along the two routes from Garmisch to Innsbruck. One 4.2 GB Romanian Asset Pack has me stalled ATM, though. Downloading. That is the big item in the requirements.
Just bought Mittenwaldbahn in the sale. TBH the vanilla route seems quite good apart from the weird very loud sound sample used at the level crossings and the 442 EMU seems a bit overpowered both in terms of acceleration and braking. Not sure if I really want to go on a dependency hunt for the mod but I might take a look. IMHO, vanilla or otherwise this is a route best enjoyed going back to the 80’s and taking a loco hauled train of original N stock (Silberlinge coaches but painted in turquoise and cream) up the hill from Innsbruck. Am I also correct in thinking there is a merge with the Munich to Garmisch route? That would be great, especially loco hauled.
Not much of a hunt, since the manual features direct hyperlinks to the reqd assets. If you want a next-level route that outdoes TSW in detail, go for it. If you then compare it to the vanilla version, it's night and day. Also want to remind you of Harznetz 2000 which is also a next level experience, as is AP's MML.
If people can´t be bothered to do it, they can´t be bothered. Personaly I love to go hunt down some stuff for 1-2 hours and get everything working. It gives me a much better looking route that I can keep forever. But that´s just me. I really love it, when the signals, the scenery and the catenary are right (or at least better than before). There are only a handful of German routes, that are fine for me "out of the box". Pegnitztalbahn beeing one of them and it´s a real shame DTG stopped making routes for TSC right afterwards.
I can understand DTG there, as they created TSW for that. Making sure TSC will be playable in the future and leaving development to 3rd parties is fair enough for me, and economically the only way to go I think. The know-how is out there, and in the end it does not matter to me if I get a new route from a 3rd party dev or DTG themselves. DTG gave us a universe of assets and stock to work with. I'm pretty sure if someone wanted to, they could create the missing Rhine Valley link Offenburg to Freiburg using only Karslruhe-Strasbourg and Freiburg Basel assets, plus a few custom buildings maybe, at least Offenburg Hbf. (Was there often in the nineties, using the connection Lörrach > Basel Bad Bf > Offenburg > Rastatt > Gaggenau). Think I'll fire up OpenRails to play a full run from KA to BS again Would also LOVE to see Freiburg Basel being extended to Lörrach, my old home... Anyone interested in doing that, contact me. I can provide a lot of photos.
Same here, I really enjoy the hunt for dependencies. I mostly play UK routes and it gets to a point where it gets much easier because you already have a lot of it. I think I have the base route, so I’ll be giving this a go later after a couple of runs on the original route so I can enjoy the improvements.
I found a small tram route on rail-sim.de, that linked to a fantastic old soviet KTM-5 tram from radiomaster, a freeware tram of ProRange level, incredibly detailed. Needed a video to show me how to do a cold start. Think I'll make a thread on that one later.
Yea Spike, it just took a while to do anything before it started! No quickdrives for the route and no scenarios?
An incredible dedication to the original author of this revamp this is a wonderful tribute well worth the faff.
As an aside GBE are doing a deal on the Dresden Schona route big community update from Railsim.de, you get the route and a diesel and electric loco with a repaint for15 Euros worth nearly 50 Euro normally. https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/entry/9407-gbe-dresden-schöna-deluxe-mihu65-baulückenfüller/
GBE? You are talking about the lowest of the low. Route building standard is on beginner level. Not worth the money, but has been reworked by the community as I understand. Their business is largely based on converting old ProTrain Perfect stuff to TSC. They openly admit high quality is not their goal though.
I wish the Schona route became a normal route connectable to the Dredsen route including Meissan, so we could have the full S1, but what can you do.
go buy it! The community update is outstanding. Here is the proper link (lots of assets required!) https://railomanie.eu/filebase/entry/405-gbe-dresden-schöna-deluxe/ The link posted before is the "Baulückenfüller". The original author (once again the late and great Thaddäus) never finished the scenery in Dresden Hbf... the Baulückenfüller by Mihu65 adds the missing scenery. Install this after the original update. PS: it´s basicly a whole new route just using some assets from the original route. The entire thing was redone with a selfmade set of tracks and signals.
Thanks. I don't think GBE deserve any money for the LOVE they're releasing. I think Bahnjan will get some cash from me soon
