We are all frustrated when it comes to gen 8. And now we can argue the series s is a gen 8. For the people who are getting started with tsw, the series x is what I recommend. I hope DTG can end the support for the series s as well as the gen 8 as simply, they can't cope with performance. We all love layered routes, but simply, I think the series s and gen 8 are coming to the end of tsw. As a train enthusiast, I prefer the highly detailed route with layers.

Series S support is non-negotiable. Microsoft do not allow games to be released on the Xbox Series X only. It must be on both, with feature parity. I haven't played the PS4 version of TSW5, but the Xbox One version is beyond unplayable. LODs barely load, the framerate is in the single digits, and the loading times are horrible.

Series s is fine. It's the previous generations. (Xbox one and ps4)

Series S is fine, runs good as long as it’s not memory intensive, gen8 however definitely struggles

    Series S is perfectly adequate.

So you recommend the Series X despite the sound issues, Z fighting and lack of sales? I certainly wouldn’t. Why do you recommend it over PS5 or PC?

I agree about Gen 8 (not series S - that is fine). Gen 8 can’t be supported forever and the fact that Just Trains have had to cut back on their new route with only the 87 in the timetable and no moving vehicles shows that they are having to spend extra time developing GEN 8 compatible versions.

This is nonsense. It is obviously hyperbole to state that "we are all frustrated." No one here speaks for everyone else. I just read on the forum that a gen 8 players is buying shap because they really want to drive it, even understanding the limitations. Why would DTG not want to sell DLC to this person? As for Series S, the only two routes I know of (so far) that have been throttled are LIRR and FTF. As a Series S player, I have no problem with that, assuming that DTG communicated these instances before I buy something. Besides all that, as already noted Microsoft does not allow games to come out for Series X only. Might as well drop all Xbox, how about all consoles and low-end PCs while we're at it? I think the best possible outcome would be if DTG made the game only for you.

Hi everyone, just to add into this conversation - we understand gen 8 (In this case, PS4 and Xbox One - not Xbox Series S like the title mentions) can have certain limitations on some add-ons to help performance stay at a healthy level, but we also have a range of regular players on these platforms that want to experience TSW and the newest add-ons with the system they currently have, and may not be able to get a hardware upgrade.

Of course, our teams are reviewing the volume of players we get across our different platforms to ensure we're making the most informed decisions on what platforms we support, and right now that continues to include gen-8 consoles for most of the add-ons and content we create for TSW. Where we need to make any announcements for players who may be affected by any alterations, we aim to share this as soon as we can confirm what these differences will look like, as clearly as we can, so players on affected platforms can make an informed choice.

I'm locking this thread as the conversation here doesn't need to continue, I appreciate the insight folks.
