Currently, the plan for the Harlem Line that was announced on the Roadmap back on 10/30/21 is too short. The line runs from Grand Central Terminal to North White Plains. While this is a good plan, I feel as if it is too short and I think I can speak for others when I say that. This section is only 24 miles long. Personally, I think the line should run further north to the terminus of all electric trains at Southeast station. This would make the line have a length of 53.2 Miles, a little more than double the currently planned length. The line from North White Plains to Southeast would also feature around 10 crossings and very scenic views. It also has the potential to have a P32AC-DM DLC, as some trains run from GCT to Wassaic and requires a locomotive that can run on both third rail and diesel. (Note that you would leave the cab on the Wassaic train at Southeast as beyond Southeast is the diesel section to Wassaic.) What do you guys think?
That's only half the problem the reuse of the M7A&M3A is fine BUT dtg has been adding at least one new train per route so not only is this route short it also isn't getting any new train,it's a bit disappointing. So just why would anyone buy this route for full price when it gives less route and no new train.
That will make it realistic except the 10-12 M7A cannot run all the way to Southeast due to Substations not capable of handling them. Therefore these use M7A 8 car trains
I agree that the proposed route is too short it should go to at least southeast which is where the electrified section ends. It would make the route 53 miles instead of 24 miles. We already have passenger routes that are 50+ miles long
When it comes to the M7A you cannot run 10-12 car trains to Southeast Brewster via Chappaqua because of the substations not equipped to handle M7A 10-12 car trains but M3A 10-12 car trains are allowed because actually ordered for the electrification project North White Plains Southeast 1983. Therefore substations can handle M3A 10-12 car trains. M7A does need 8 car find configuration because Grand Central to Southeast Brewster North are Express services Grand Central to White Plains and doesn't cause the 1980s substations to go Haywire.
They needed to make it more historic. They really missed the opportunity to add the 20th Century Limited.
Even when electrified it was pulled by the T electric and e-units. I have made a three in suggestions for this, but I highly doubt they will do it.
