So, I would like to suggest my local line to DTG... The Durham Coast Line from Middlesbrough to Newcastle, which would extend to the MetroCentre and also the Tyne and Wear Metro. The Durham Coast Line runs along some of the oldest metals in the World, tracing its history back to The Brandling Railway in 1825 which ran from Gateshead to Wearmouth, on the North Side of the River Wear, the line runs through Sunderland down the Durham Coast to Seaham, Horden, Hartlepool, Seaton Carew, Billingham, Stockton, Thornaby and Middlesbrough, it would also include the line out to the MetroCentre, where a lot of Middlesbrough Trains run to. The Durham Coast currently uses Class 156 and 158 after The Pacers were phased out, but depending when set, Pacers, 150's etc could be used. As part of my suggestion, I would love to see the Tyne and Wear Metro added on to this suggestion, the Metro shares tracks with Northern between Sunderland and Pelaw and would be a great addition, as part of a wider Durham Coast Package or as a Standalone DLC...We've had a TFL Line DLC why not branch out and do another light rail system... Other suggestions for the North East Area (Historical and Modern) The Blyth and Tyne...A closed line North of Newcastle that is re-opening in the next few years The Tyne Valley Line...A lovely run up to Carlisle from Newcastle using 156s and 158s ECML North...Newcastle-Edinburgh with LNER, Lumo and Local Northern Services ECML North East...Newcastle-York with LNER, Lumo, Northern and TPE Leamside Line...This line branched of the Durham Coast at Pelaw and ran down to Ferryhill, it acted as a diversion line when the ECML was being electrified in the 80's and fully closed in the 1990's, was a freight line for local collieries, could be added as part of a ECML North East DLC if was set in a historical context. I will go away and research my suggestions and come back at a later date with more information
A good era for this route could be during the late 80s (same times as TVL0 so it could merge with TVL and so we could get a class 144 pacer.
