The NS Mat '64, short for Materieel 1964. For a few decades these trains were a common sight on the majority of the Dutch railway network. The iconic Mat'64 was often operated as stopping services throughout the country. There was a 2-car EMU set and a 4-car EMU set, often seen coupled together in various combinations. They were in service until 2016. More info on https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mat_'64
I didn't remember this train driving between Zwolle and Groningen, this could be a welcome add-on train. Even though I like modern trains more, I hope another Dutch route comes, where this train could drive.
The Mat'64 doesn't fit the time period of Spoorlijn Zwolle-Groningen. The SNG entered service in 2019, while the last Mat'64 went out of service in 2016, according to Wikipedia. Although a few Mat'64 remain, I don't know if they're actively used in railtours.
Oh, as soon as I saw those interiors... 70s-80s vibes here ! A very strange and particular train, that I'd really appreciate in game! PS. I'd also like to see an ICNG, 1600-1800 locos or even something older and "green"!
oh yeah this one is classic! Very nice train but obviously it doesn't drive anymore so will probably difficult for dovetail to recreate? If they have access to older trains then they should look into these dutch locomotives; 1100 - https://treinposities.nl/tn/6c/68/1...64d7bcef705dc0c9e814567220e577e1826135339.jpg 1700 - https://www.martijnvanvulpen.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/20190728-002-Groot.jpg
The 1700 was until recently used for the IC-service to Berlin. They had to switch to a BR 101 at the border, because of the difference in voltage between Dutch and German railways. Since a few years, they use a Vectron, so the loco switch is sadly no longer necessary. Maybe they can make this one if they decide to make the railway Amsterdam to Zutphen or Arnhem
maybe christrains can help dovetail; https://www.christrains.com/nl/ts_product_nsmat64.html He's got lots of models for TSC.
Spoorwegmuseum at Utrecht also has an intact Mat'64. And then there's De Karel, in another livery but I imagine it could be used for sound recordings.
i would love that too...iconic train...i grow up in germany but in the holydays i spend the most time at my family in arnhem and rest of gelderland. I love this train and it reminds me of my childhood at some stations i always liked those because we diddnt have them in germany. Please DTG make this possible at a time.
Absolutely correct speaking of the Amsterdam Centraal Arnhem Spoorlijn it's actually the Dutch segment of this International route Hollandstrecke Duisburg Arnhem. In fact I have it on my suggestion in the signature. Mat64 fits that route and Spoorlijn Zwolle Groningen if set before 2016
yup even the mat 54 could be taken the sounds from since thats also still in use for railtours by another stichting named hondekop
That's nice, but I'm personally less interested in the Mat '54. Although I'm old enough to have travelled on the Mat '64 on a daily basis, I've never seen Mat '54 in service.
